Remember a .38 is a .357, which is basically a 9mm. Anyone who has any gun experience at all can tell you that ammunition nomenclature makes no sense at all.

Also, The German web site being thrown around as proof of the existence of a ‘.38 magnum, is noting more than a .380 AIRGUN. That’s right an AIRGUN, a toy.

On a similar note, the .380, 9mm, and .38 Super all use the same .355 inch bullet. Again the only difference between the rounds is the case size and the amount of powder behind them.

The .38 special is hardly ever loaded faster than 1100 feet per second unless your loading +P rounds, but then you should probably be shooting them in a .357Mag frame weapon

Also saying the .38 Special is basically a magnum is very inaccurate. True it has a longer case than a 9mm Lugar, but the Lugar is loaded to a higher pressure, thus it’s the more powerful round..
