Well that's the tragedy of it ... I also generally agree with the position that the becoming enmeshed in the world of sports and celebrities is a major distraction to knowledge, clarity, gnosis, etc.... But the world of conspiracies and fear is just as bad a distraction, if not worse. It's particularly dangerous, because while people who are into pop generally know that in the end it's silly fluff, conspiracists actually believe they have reached an enlightened state. They simultaneously pity and blast the rest of us simple folk, condemened to forever be mere pawns of corporate America, Bilderbergers, "the elites" or whatever dark force du jour steers our fate today.
It's difficult to dislodge that kind of thing out of your thinking once it's entrenched in your worldview. Hold to the center.

Well I don't claim to be enlightened either, but I have a strong feeling that the best place to be is one that doesn't seduce your mind into a state where it stops asking the right questions.
