I think it's a copout to downvote this for being "gimmicky." The arbitrary joke in the original (why is Wendy's head there? it doesn't make any sense; i could just as easily put some other frantic female head there) was really rounded out by adding Dave Thomas and implying some kind of parallel strained relationship between Jack and his wife and Dave Thomas/his daughter. The effort put forth was only a simple headpaste, though; as well, we're still left wondering: Why Wendy's at all?
