I wouldn't say I'm going for satire anymore. I was, back in 05 maybe, but I think I've reached the point where it's a bit too abstract to be effectively parodying anything, as you said. Thus a new genre has been established; a genre of sites that encourages the site creator to strive for intentional badness on as grand a scale as possible. And it's caught on with many people, as you can clearly see.
There's no hostility in what we do; we create YTMNDs to laugh at blaring sounds and horrible Photoshop edits. And contrary to what others might believe, these sites aren't all the same. Sure, they're telling the same "joke", but the creative combinations of off the wall image, sound and text overlays that the site's populace can come up with keeps the genre fresh and innovative (and it doesn't take a minute and a half of loading to get to the point.)
Take a look at sites by DarthWang, FatherMckenzie, Peesauce, houseofcards, NESer, AegisReflector, AppleNick, and the dozens of others I can't name off the top of my head. Sure, they're all "noise" sites, and some may be quick to write these people off as my "imitators", but they each have a unique approach to the genre with their own little tricks and hooks. The possibilities are endless, and anybody and everybody is welcome to play along (except fourest).
To TheAmateurAnimator: What could be a "more enjoyable" method of satire (if you can call it that) than this, and similar YTMNDs? They're hilarious to look at, and fun to make. I suppose not everyone agrees, but you can't very well determine that these sites aren't "enjoyable" if you've never tried making one yourself.
