What it takes to be banned on eBaumsworld
This is getting more and more pathetic by the minute. I'm a convert, let's do something about it.

As always, when you seriously debunk this whole thing to the eBaum administrators, they ban you and forget everything they just read.
(0)
Oh no they banned you from their forums for no reason! Better write your congressman about it

I think I saw the original post. Kudos for being one of the few intellegant posters in that thread....on either side :)

Archon just about has it. It's just the way that Ebaum steals their content.

A common arguement against YTMND is that we steal content for our own use as well. This is incorrect for two reasons: first, we earn nothing. We aren't staff, so it doesn't affect our paycheck if we steal or not; Max has very few ads on this site, so he earns little also. Most of the site's revenue is likely earned from donations.

Second, we here at YTMND value creativity. It has rarely come to pass that a site has made it to the top 15 if it had no creative value at all. Sure, it's Ronald and Brian Peppers most of the time, but the movers and shakers of YTMND are creative and imaginative. Stolen work often gets downvoted into the pits of oblivion and anonymity.

Also note that their foes and most outspoken critics are wordfiltered. Why would they do this? To protect their credibility? If these allegations were false, don't you think they would not have wordfiltered it? After all, fearing critics with groundless allegations would be silly.

Are you kidding? The majority of the top 15 used to be stolen material with nothing creative added. Half the "epic manuever" sites are just XTREME video clips from ebaumsworld knockoffs, yet somehow are often highly rated. It doesn't matter that Ebaumsworld makes a healthy profit, what matters is you are taking someone else's effort and getting the votes/views for it. What incentive do people have to actually create content if they can just steal the latest funny pic from 4chan and get the same rating?
July 21st, 2006

Because a large portion of YTMNDers are also 4chan users. Often, if a YTMNd is classified as "old", it will be downvoted by these people. The top 15 is never a credible example of "the best" YTMNDs; usually, those YTMNDs are posted on other sites whose users view it to the top for the day. The Top rated and Up and Coming YTMNDs are what the users have voted to be the best for the day; the Hall of Fame is the finest YTMNDs ever created.

And as you've said, we earn nothing besides a few stars. Why do the RIAA go after pirates instead of fansites? The pirates are earning something off of them, and the fans aren't. Technically, we're fans; we earn nothing, we just show our appreciation for the movies/players/mascots.

Also I've noticed something I should have checked over more thoroughly; as I just said, the top 15 isn't credible, and as such, my second paragraph should have referenced the HoF and top five. Duhrr.

and I completely agree with what Rainbringer has said in his comments, I dont think I would have ever bought I love Katamari if it wasnt for all the katamari based YTMNDs, they really promoted the game! YTMND really does function more like a fansite!

ytmnd isn't built on stolen content, it's built on people peicing together pictures, sound, text (often creating their own) and CREDITING the sources. Ebaums blatantly steals then acts like it didn't, and profits. f*ck ebaums, they steal from everyone.
