I suppose my argument is that it becomes a problem when in-joke or 'lol you should get this and if you don't you're stupid' sites get on the top rated, most viewed etc. though I am guilty of making sort of 'inside sites' like this, none of them have taken the place of more worthy sites in the top lists.
