In a funny coincedence, the book The Hobbit contains a small segment about how a hobbit invented golf by knocking off the head of a goblin chief named Golfimbol (I think). It flew through the air and rolled into a rabbit's hole. At least, I think that was from The Hobbit. It might have been from The Fellowship of the Ring.
