I've left this on loop for like ten times now. I just stopped everything I was doing and really started contemplating that I've been here for twenty years.
Every time I get together with houseofcards (my real life younger brother), it's no exaggeration that 10% or so of pur conversations relate to dumb YTMND anti-fad in-jokes/shitposts/dumb site ideas that we should have made back in the day when the iron was hot.
It's weird because 2011 was exactly the point in which I finally got my shit together, went back to college, and got a proper job and some semblance of a normal life. I can pass pretty well as a normie now, and there have been times at work where some guys are talking about YTMND on Slack and I'm so tempted to out myself as one of the more infamous shitposters but I never do.
I love this place and you guys so much. I never want this place to die. I may have axed pretty much every aspect of my internet life pre-2011, but YTMND will forever live rent free in my head.

Chads who use the nNewgrounds portal to find new artists, because you still find great artists there. LOL, look at what I just found, some preview for some gangster animation here: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/978726
I never get the heavy use of nostalgia-bait—sure, there are awesome classics still worth remembering, but constantly repeating mass-media giants is not fun. or maybe join sub-cultures from sites like https://www.sudomemo.net/, https://tildes.net/, https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/soulseek, https://status.cafe/, https://garyc.me/sketch/ or some other site.

This feels like comparing apples to oranges.
We're kinda extremely limited by the medium here. That, and the userbase. There's only ten people left here and they all have mental problems. And even if we had more, why would creators settle for picture/sound/text when they could make "faggy short films" instead?
If you want less "nostalgia-bait" here then be the change you want to see in the world. The barrier to entry is extremely low.
