This "Tails was originally female" shtick is starting to annoy me... Every time a very effeminate male comes along (like Tails or Lucius from Fire Emblem), everyone suggests that they might have started out female in the Japanese version!

Clever one! I remember that line from the AoStH cartoon. As for the Tails gender issue... I heard he was going to orrigenally be female while they were making Sonic 2, but then they made him male. I don't know if it's true though. It could be just a fan rumor.

Tails was suppose to be female, but gamers didn't like the idea of Sonic having a female sidekick (lol, sexism), so they threw in some white chest fur and made him a man.
