This touched the hearts of a lot of people and started to give YTMND a reputation for being more than a den of heartless, mindless idiocy. Without the song, the image is not nearly as powerful. Some stories have to be told at YTMND, whether they're original or not. Very few things that ever gained massive popularity on YTMND are original. Are we NOT supposed to want a high rating? People LIKED this YTMND. Lots of people did. The sad music did it for a lot of people.
