Not that he's close to the best, but anyone who says he's the worst should try opening up a U.S. History book. Yes, that includes YOU, GIVEMEREPLAY. Any well-versed history buff would put James Buchanan as the worst, and at least a dozen and a half presidents worse than Bush.

"Not that he's close to the best, but anyone who says he's the worst should try opening up a U.S. History book. Yes, that includes YOU, GIVEMEREPLAY. Could you claim that those dozen presidents had such adverse long range consequences as Bush has? Can you claim that those dozen created a hatred for the United States world wide, especially in the Mid East?

Can you claim that those dozen polarized the United States so much so that every bloody topic of interest became a war between "left" and "right"? Can you claim that they wore down Constitutional rights and severely imbalanced the power of the three branches? I think not. To BBQman, his friends and confidants call him that. Try watching the news from time to time.

I think James Buchanan did much worse for the United States as a country than Bush could dream of. Look him up. And to say Bush created the hatred for the United States worldwide(and especially the middle east) is an ignorant statement on its own. The U.S. has never been well liked universally since it became the most powerful country in the world. It goes with the title. I will agree, though, that Bush didn't help out at all, but to give him all of the credit... HA!

"Can you claim that those dozen polarized the United States so much so that every bloody topic of interest became a war between "left" and "right"?" I take it you've heard of the American Civil War, right? Go ahead and look up which President didn't do a damn thing to stop it from happening.

No one claimed that the rest of the world loved us before, but during this presidency a hatred of the US has emerged, even in countries that are our traditional allies, which surpasses all other times. You can call Buchanan inept, but I dare say that you can call Mr. Bush malicious. Did I mention that he put us into the greatest debt of all time, even when accounting for inflation?

"Antsy, you can make a case for it, as is done here: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/9961300" Thanks, I've read it. But I doubt a left-leaning magazine like Rolling Stone would gather opinions from unbiased sources. A historian may call him the worst, but historians as a group do not.

http://hnn.us/articles/5019.html Unusual that you should speak for all historians. You must know them well. If anything there hasn't been enough time yet to judge just how awful this president has been, at least for historians. I am no historian.

You certainly aren't. And of course I don't know them all, but I've studied, read and debated with enough of them to realize you need to poll more than 415 to form an intelligent survey. Notice that it said unscientific. They weren't going for balanced or unbiased opinions. But you're correct. There hasn't been enough passing time to really rate him as a president. So while its your right to express your opinions, I really think you should do your research beforehand as to not look ignorant.

"There hasn't been enough passing time to really rate him as a president. So while its your right to express your opinions, I really think you should do your research beforehand as to not look ignorant." Lol, I think that sums it up. Bush is afterall > than Antsy. > as in more intelligent, and yes, that is an insult, you contradictory sally-swanker.

"I really think you should do your research beforehand as to not look ignorant." But alas, you have yet to prove your point as to why he is not the worst. I on the other hand have supported my argument, stating that Bush's actions will have grave repercussions far into the future, and that his malice has hurt America in a grand way. I bid you kthx, and a ggkthxnore. By the way, just how many historians have you debated?
