forks are defined as having two or more prongs, this means that a three pronged fork can exsist, and do.

but the fork came before the trident thus the trident is a variation of a fork. "settle the arguement". the picture shows the staff slightly longer than the tines, this to me implies that it is a fork and not a trident since tridents are defined as having spears and are traditionally longer than forks.
