Paragon: that's well and good, but y'all need to stop taking credit for "atheist scientific advancements" or whatever if that's the case. If we don't get to blame atheism for anything we don't get to give it credit for anything either. ;)

Motu: "The point is that Atheists have never suppressed a theory that turned out to be true." Incorrect. Atheistic communists attempted to suppress the economic theory of capitalism, which empirically has been proven superior to the alternatives.

Also, re: anifanatic's question as to how many lives have been saved by "atheist" scientific advances, I challenge you to name a single scientific discovery that atheists can claim sole credit for. Up until relatively recently, the majority of scientific advances were made by religious men, many of whom pursued science and a rational model of the universe as a means of better understanding God, while the atheists of the period insisted that there was no rhyme or reason to the universe.

Actually, benjafar, most killings that are popularly attributed to religious motivations (like the Crusades, the Inquisition, etc) had predominantly secular motivations, such as grabbing land. The religious justification was almost always an afterthought tacked on to try to legitimize whatever it was that would have been done anyway. If you're going to lay the Crusades at the feet of Christianity, you might as well lay Tienamen Square at the feet of Atheism.
