isn't it funny that, if our washing machine broke, we'd go out and get a new one. but when ideas break - as they often do, becoming outdated, disproven, etc - we're much less likely to replace them. I suspect it's because we identify so much with our thoughts that we're reluctant to change ourselves.

no, I was talking about ideas in general, a category of which politics is but one part. what prompted that point, I'm not sure. perhaps it was the V for Vendetta bit about not being able to kill an idea.

efore the wachowski bros updated the book for a post 9-11 world, Moore's V dealt less with how to check and balance the industrial military complex and more with the relationship between anarchy and freedom. like your point about anarchy, it's great and probably essential to true liberty, but it also requires an incredible amount of work and critical enterprise, which can be painful to some.
