It's JIGAwatt -- not GIGAwatt... So, in the words of Capt James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise, "double-dumba$$ on you!"

It's supposed to be GIGAwatt but no one making that movie knew the correct way to pronounce it.

gigawatt is pronounced 'jigawatt' if 'jigawatt' is correct then everyone in the world says gigabyte WRONG

Wikipedia says: There are two accepted pronunciations for the prefix giga-: [ˈgɪgə] and [ˈdʒɪgə]. The former is more common than the latter.

Or 1x10^9 joules per second. Or 1x10^9 newtons times meters per second...

Remember the movie was made in the 80's... the pronunciation "jigga-" for "giga-" was more common then. Also, the guy who wrote the book or the screenplay (I forgot which) got the word from a real scientist's lecture...

Yes the correct way to pronounce Gigawatt and Gigabyte is actually Jiggawatt and Jigabyte, but nobody says that.
