| 5's...everyone that voted for the dumbsh*t bailout plan should be charged with treason and then shot. |
+8 | |||||
| agreed. the keywords sum up how i feel about this sh*t | ||||||
| That would include our newly elected beloved savior, Bob Bop Perono. | ||||||

| I care about what people on YTMND think about our current economic crisis! |
+14 | |||||
| I didn't realize theft and fraud was an opinion. |
+5 | |||||
| I never stated my feelings on the "bailout" I was commenting on the first comment. Obviously rVAg60 disagrees with it and thinks people who do (i.e. voted for it) should be shot. | ||||||
| I like how everyone seems to interchange the bailout plan which was valued out at $700 billion dollars with ever single dollar that the government has invested in virtually every program thst ISN'T the Iraqi war this year and assessing it as part of the 'bailout'. I also like forbes' fearmongering breakdown of this bailout money which shows the first $350 billion of the bailout being counted 4 times thus turning $350 billion into 1.4 Trillion. I stopped reading the report after that. |

| The US gov't bails out corporations all the time (Nixon saved Lockheed Martin and Regan saved US Steel and Automobiles), but to completely remove the possibly of collapse is a bad idea, and its just an excuse for the companies to leave the US to sink and go do business elsewhere. Lately the stock market only goes up when there's huge layoffs that week. | ||||||
| i voted a 5 on the bailout |

| In the first day following "the bailout" the economy shifted, losing roughly 1.6 trillion dollars in worth... The bailout was a life jacket, not a final solution. so you're bitching about 700 billion when trillions of dollars of our economy's net gain can be lost in a day? we're far from the bottom... if you want some good advice: invest in copper or zinc. those are the components to make brass, brass makes bullet shells. i guarantee americans will soon be using bullets more than any credit card. |

| "adjusting for inflation" means "im a liberal sh*t head whos making up numbers to look right" |
-2 | |||||

| speak for yourself sir | ||||||
| Economics not your forte? | ||||||
| If he didn't adjust for inflation, it would look even worse. Comic book like. It also wouldn't make sense.
Oh wait... good flame. |
+1 | |||||
| 4 trillion? |
+2 | |||||
| the proposition was 800 billion I thought |
+6 | |||||
| http://www.cnbc.com/id/27719011 | ||||||
| LOL these numbers are ridiculous. Moon shot was over $200 billion?? LOL the us GDP in 1969 was about $1 trillion; that would have been 1/5 of the GDP lol. That's adjusted for current dollars, btw. |
-4 | |||||
| Ehh nevermind. I didn't take into account $200 billion was already adjusted. I owned myself. |
+4 | |||||
| huh? |
+3 | |||||
| hmm |

| ahahaha |

| "With inflation, it is equal to $217,000,000,000 in 2008 USD"

Shoe feels bad because he voted for corporate welfare. |

| shoe feels bad cuz you didnt hit 'reply' |
+4 | |||||
| I f*cking love this world. | ||||||
| Wow, just wow. Do you think that 50 years from now, long after the US is bankrupt, the world will wonder what the hell we were even thinking? |
+2 | |||||
| Never have pie charts been this apocalyptic before. |
+3 | |||||
| I won't care. I'll be living in the new superpower, Canada. | ||||||
| ahahaha |
+2 | |||||
| huh? | ||||||
| hmm |
+1 | |||||
| China* |
+3 | |||||
| Chinada** | ||||||
| Ch-f*ck you*** | ||||||
| The bailout could be $1 and the pie chart on the left wouldn't look any different... |
-2 | |||||
| Never mind apparently the pie charts are to scale. Its still a stupid way to represent the data though. |
-1 | |||||
| actually, the circle is bigger than the other one if you noticed that. because the total is larger. so if it was 1 dollar itd be virtually invisible. |
+4 | |||||
| It would be easier to understand if it were two bar graphs (one broken up into colors). That is basically what this is, just in a different shape. |
-2 | |||||
| five stars for rapid eye movement | ||||||
| hmm pie | ||||||
| But... its not 2012 yet... |
+1 | |||||
| Where does the 4 trillion figure factor in? | ||||||
| thats how much the bailout is going to cost us... im not sure what you're asking |
+1 | |||||
| Here's the site that the link in the profile refers back to: http://www.boingboing.net/2008/11/25/bailout-costs-more-t.html
On that site comments point out soem descrepencies in the info.
Hear is a site that tries to explain where this ridiculous 4 trillion+ figure comes from: http://www.infowars.net/articles/october2008/151008Bailout_figures.htm
For soem reason they included the expanded FDIC insurance which is ridiculous because that money is only spent when an institution fails.
| yea when an institution fails... have you seen the news recently? | ||||||
| Not every single institution is going to fail. |
+1 | |||||
| Two more things and then I'll buzz off. Governments must spend to get out a nation out of depression/recession, its how we did it in WWII (with even more debt) and its what is needed now, you learn this in every macroeconomics course. Secondly, this current crisis was caused by 20+ years of poor economic policy starting with Reagan's tax-cuts and increased military spending, along with cuts to government regulation which the Democratic congress went along with. |
-1 | |||||
| Don't blame zombie Regan for our economic woes, or he'll send his hordes for our brains. |
+5 | |||||
| you're overlooking that government intervention in these industries goes against the basis of democracy. its socialism. and the bailout is only going to to cost us, the taxpayers without giving us anything in return. with other government programs at least we get roads, infrastructure, even a war to fight. with this we dont get anything except inflation inflation inflation. i dont understand how anyone except the companies getting the money could possibly think this bailout is even remotely a good idea |
-1 | |||||
| HMMM IF YOU DONT LISTEN TO FOX NEWS AND TALK RADIO YOU WONT BE AS EDUCATED AS Cobra585. |
+5 | |||||
| "goes against the basis of democracy"
Capitalism, not democracy. Get it right. |
+3 | |||||
| More importantly, it wasn't the new deal that got us out of the depression. It was World War II. I'm not even going to get into how many jobs were created by not only having to supply Europe with the weapons they fought with during the war, or even how many jobs were created by the factories that were building the weapons we used when we eventually entered the war. I'm just going to mention that when millions of Americans die at war, it leaves a lot more jobs to go around. | ||||||
| Also, try reading a bit about Keynesian economics. When you lower taxes it encourages people to spend money. When you build up the military, you create jobs. |
+1 | |||||
| HAY GUYZ! DO YOU VISIT DIGG.COM TOO? |
+2 | |||||
| Protip: Employment is pointless and even counterproductive if nothing of value is produced by it. |
+1 | |||||
| I guess if you cry,"SOCIALISM!" every time the government spends money, you're bound to be right at some point. Not an impressive batting average, but at least you can say, "I TOLD YOU SO!" at some point. |
+1 | |||||
| Actually not even 1/2 a million people were killed in WWII. Don't blame Reagan. Don't blame Bush. Blame sketchy banks and mortgage lenders. |
-1 | |||||
| not even 1/2 a million people were killed in WWII? wtf? | ||||||
| but wont a weak dollar help domestic manufacturing? also FREE MONEY!!!! |
-6 | |||||
| are you really suggesting a weak dollar is good? | ||||||
| A little socialism never hurt anyone. And this isn't socialism since we didn't nationalize the banks. This is what they did in England. It'd probably be less costly and more efficient if we had just nationalized the banks.
And I beleive its very likely that the government would have gone into a possible depression had the gov't not intervened. I dont liek the bailout as is... its a shame we had to do it. But the cost of not acting wouldve been worse. |
-3 | |||||
| nobody knows if it would have been worse. i do know that this is going to ruin the dollar and make the taxpayers foot a 4+ trillion dollar bill. this is a robbery | ||||||
| Listen... it's obvious congress is paid off since they won't give 25 billion to car companies but they f*cking give 4 trillion to MOTHER F*CKING BANKS THAT PUSH PAPER IN CIRCLES AND DO NOT CREATE ANY REAL GOODS. They create a service, a very LIMITED service. Plus they were supposed to loan it out, which they did not do. This is the worst plan ever. | ||||||
| I dont think your worried about the shape of the overall economy as much as you are your are your own personal worth. if the dollar is weaker it means its cheaper to produce here, vs overseas. there are downsides, but i'd like to see america producing things again, we were good at it. why do you think japan and china manufacture everything? they keep their currencys sh*tty. | ||||||
| your just a typical american who would riot if you couldn't afford a f*cking xbox. | ||||||
| Confusing democracy with capitalism. A common Sean Hannity/Ann Coulter rabid fanboi mistake.
|
+1 | |||||
| well this is depressing. |
-1 | |||||
| Wait, so what we have to do to make the economy better is to borrow trillions of dollars? B-b-b-but John McCain told me we were all going to die if we didn't cut income taxes on millionaires and large corporations! Oh hell, I don't like thinking, let's just do both |
-3 | |||||
| I'm surprised we've spent that much on NASA. Anyone else? | ||||||
| bail out pie looks a lot more like upvoter pie. i wonder if that's a coincidence. | ||||||
| Nader said f*ck the bail out, jail those wallstreet crooks instead. |
+1 | |||||
| The New Deal is a Big Deal. | ||||||
| We need sites like this to cancel out that "bank on Benanke" sh*t. You might as well bank on Satan... oh wait. | ||||||
| This is why I spent all those years learning a foreign language. Naturalization ho! | ||||||
| Too bad america isn't shy about exporting depressions. |
+1 | |||||
| Where is the information of the bailout costing 4.6 trillion when the news has spoken of nothing but $700 billion? |
+1 | |||||
| more importantly, what does it have to do with humor, art, or anything else entertaining for YTMND? if i wanted news, i'd go to cnn.com, not ytmnd.com |
-1 | |||||
| you're crazy if you think the bailout is only going to cost us 700 billion. see the big picture youre all being robbed. |
-4 | |||||
| The 700 Billion from Washington is nothing compared with the TRILLIONS the Fed is (quietly) pumping into the banks. |
+1 | |||||
| They have numbers saying it could cost as much as 7.2 trillion too | ||||||
| :'( | ||||||
| WE SHOULD DRILL IN ANWR |
+2 | |||||
| Socialism and communism always fails in one form or the other. | ||||||
| Learn how to make verbs agree with their subjects, then come talk to us about failure. |
+3 | |||||
| The need for a bailout shows that capitalism can fail too, imagine that. |
+2 | |||||
| This is FASCISM, plain and simple |
-1 | |||||
| Yeah Valintine, sad how capitalism is so transparent... i'd definitely rather have the government keep propping things up until the whole thing collapses and there's nothing left | ||||||
| This is just a bad YTMND, regardless of which economic view it's pushing. |
+4 | |||||
| im not pushing anything its just figures... what view are you pushing? |
-4 | |||||
| "im not pushing any views guys 'makes comments about how the bailout is a mistake'" -Cobra585, 2008 |
+3 | |||||
| he actually said the ytmnd was pushing views not me. and since i made it... my comment makes sense and yours kind of doesn't. i mean its not your fault, youre just an idiot it happens |
-4 | |||||
| regardless, your comment about not pushing views is erroneous whether your ytmnd is neutral or not. peace |
+3 | |||||
| nah you're wrong sorry |
-4 | |||||
| lololol last word fight |
+2 | |||||
| The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. | ||||||
| Interesting...
Would like to see the article or actual numbers behind this.
| theres a link to the blog i got it from up top |
-1 | |||||
| yep, there's nothing funnier or more clever than dry facts.... |
+2 | |||||
| YAWNNNNNNNNNNN |
+1 | |||||
| fail at pie charts. |
+1 | |||||
| "Also, try reading a bit about Keynesian economics."
Ive read Keynes, and he would argue that cutting taxes at the expense of defecit spending is not beneficial. And yes I agree that spending in WWII helped fix the US economoy. but remember that War f*cks the economies of those invaded. Also, one could argue that the New Deal didnt go far enough in fiscal consumption to jolt us out of depression. When we beefed up spendign in WWII we created enough jobs and enough materials to sustain the economy.
| nobody was buying cars thats for damn sure. at least tommycookers get blown up occasionally. | ||||||
| You know? All things considered, things really aren't that bad. | ||||||
| I'm eating some good pasta in my warm apartment, with a 46 inch LCD TV and money in my pocket. And do you know why? IT'S BECAUSE I WORK IN THE AN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY SUCKERS, HAHAHAHA! Entertainment skyrockets during recessions. |
-1 | |||||
| SH*T, I MADE A TYPO. | ||||||
| cnntmnd | ||||||
| You can't fix the world's problems by throwing money at them. | ||||||
| Yeah, throw the money at me instead. |
+1 | |||||
| Who put this on Digg? /facepalm | ||||||
| f*ckin give the money to the people not the dirty jews who continue to make things no one want. |
-1 | |||||
| I'll never understand why morons link to ytmnd for sh*t like this instead of just linking to http://www.voltagecreative.com/blog. The internet is too f*cking crowded. I'm taking up hunting. | ||||||
| NASA budget ftw. If it really is the end of the world as we know it at least there still can be a few of those who get to reproduce and continue the life of humanity on the ISS |
+3 | |||||
| Oh yeah, the self-sustaining ISS. Good plan. | ||||||
| i don't really understand anything about macroeconomics or financial policy but i like having strong opinions on current events | ||||||
| The US should send all of its gold to Cash4Gold. That will solve all of our problems. |
+9 | |||||
| It's the end of the world because our economy is bad? I didn't know that. | ||||||
| http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gExNrePN4tHidNyLYl-r9AovSYagD94M3TU80 | ||||||
| And I still owe that f*cking raccoon 84,000 bells. |
+2 | |||||
| http://khanimalcrossing.ytmnd.com/ | ||||||
| 4 or 7 trillion would only be accurate if every bank we invested in, loaned money to, or guaranteed, failed. That won't happen. Also, bar graphs would be better than two pie charts. | ||||||
| What is moonshot? Is that NASA's moon programs of the 60s and 70s? | ||||||
| 5'ved and favved | ||||||
| I love how everyone calls the bailout "socialism." It's not socialism, *ssh*les. It is the rich taking advantage of the poor. That is the complete OPPOSITE of socialistic ideals. Socialistic ideals call for assistance for the POOR, not some rich *ssh*les on Wall Street. | ||||||
| Don't confuse people with facts or logic. That just gets in the way of assuming that because you complain a little that you're actually changing things. | ||||||
| This bailout isn't socialist as the socialist ideal would be to seize the assets of the companies that are being bailed out and have them run by the government. It isn't capitalist, as the capitalist ideal would be to let these companies go bankrupt. This is pure Cronyism, where the banking institutions with friends in Washington are being allowed to cash out at taxpayer expense for there own poor business practices, that were brought about by a lack of regulation in the market. | ||||||
| that's OVER NINE-THOUSAND! |
+2 | |||||
| PLEASE GO TAKE A SH*T SIR! | ||||||
| Even more evidence provided to the public though YTMND of why most of the high govt. should be hanging from trees right now. |
-1 | |||||
| But not for lying us into Iraq, sanctioning torture, politicizing the Justice Department, mountaintop removal, or illegal wiretapping. No, THIS is the outrage that should bring the government down. |
+2 | |||||
| Lying us into Iraq? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember being told that we were going in there to eliminate the various leaders of the Taliban and Alqueda living there, and so far we've gotten most of them. | ||||||
| Yup, Terrorist activity has ceased because we killed some of their leaders... | ||||||
| Taliban and Alqueda... in Iraq?
That was Afghanistan. You know, the place we neglected when we invaded Iraq.
| 5'd for the Marshall Plan. | ||||||
| Nothing of value was lost. |
-1 | |||||
| Obama: PAPER IS MONEY! |
-1 | |||||
| Guys, just think. We'll be doing the American thing. Paying more taxes. | ||||||
| MCCAIN/PALIN '08 LOL | ||||||
| also, i like having an opinion on ytmnd because it makes me sound smart. | ||||||
| i'll vote 5 if you make this a lando site or something | ||||||
| honestly i'm just sick of economy sites. its the same recycled joke just like-- |
+3 | |||||
| Well, I guess it culd be worse; though the song hints at the only way it could be. |
-1 | |||||
| thats just so far away from being right, its disgusting. |
+1 | |||||
| I do come to this site to get away from this sort of thing. |
-1 | |||||
| And that makes me truly hate that this is top viewed for today. | ||||||
| :| | ||||||
| ok | ||||||
| 5 for the gubmint running a train on all of us |
+1 | |||||
| I FEEL FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE | ||||||

| It's spelled YOU'RE!!!. You f*cking god damned stupid *ss piece of sh*t. Learn to speak english before your dumb *ss tries to make a thought f*ggot. |
-2 | |||||
| ...uhhh actually "your" is correct here; it's possessive. And "English" is capitalized, if you want to be picky. You look like such a huge tool right now. | ||||||
| IT'S ALWAYS SPELLED "YOU'REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" YOU F*CKING GOD DAMNED C*NT LICKING PIECE OF N*GG*R SH*T!!!!!!!!! | ||||||
| I don't care what R.E.M. says, this song is about policy debate in high schools and colleges. And I feel fine. | ||||||
| The bailout isn't costing that much because your money isn't worth anything anymore. At best, Id take the face value of the paper used for printing and the ink + maintenance on the press. | ||||||
| Looks like the Libertarians were right again. | ||||||
| And next up to the plate... inflation. Print baby, print! | ||||||
| Jesus... | ||||||
