those are more then just fads they are iconic of the golden days of ytmnd, When the site was new and extremely active. Also I really don't think anyone even new users would come to the sight without hitting up top view/rated and then exploring the fads they liked. Its a great time killer, ytmnd.

The sound was amazing but the feathering on some of the images is kinda terrible. Its like they cut out white backgrounds. Except for kirk but it seems more likely the lowered alpha just made the white fade...
