The fanfiction didn't need the sound to be funny. The sound adds little to the experience, and besides, if I wanted YTMND to read a story read to me, I'd probably also want YTMND to tuck me in at night and sing me lullabies. Tim Star was funny because the author took things that weren't funny or were funny for different reasons and created something funny with them.
