For someone who doesn't frequent often (like this DJ), clicking random YTMND's on the front page does turn up a lot of crap. A casual or new visitor isn't going to take the time to watch through 3 lame ytmnds (and wait for them all to load btw) before they click on that 4'th link and finally find something that they find humorous. Too much of YTMND is inside jokes, fads, or just clickish humor that outside visitors just don't get or find funny.
