Actually, there have only been two presidential cannidates to have ever won the Iowa presidential cacuaus that have ever won the presidency and the only non-encumbant was GWB in 2000. In fact Ronald Regan lost the Iowa cacaus to GHB back in 1980 and GHB did not win the Iowa cacaus when he ran in 1988.

Yeah, it leaves local and state courts free to impose restrictions on birth control, sexuality, and integration. Which is exactly what the supporters of the bill wanted.

I trust the local and state officials to make the decisions regarding their community moreso than the overarching federal govt. If those said officals abuse their power in regards to those topics, make unpopular restrictions, etc...they would get voted out where need be. Power in the hands of the people, where it should be.

That's fine, but there needs to be some oversight at the national level. You don't have to dig very deep to find examples of arbitrary and repressive state and local actions. Just look at Jim Crow laws.

I think that it is insane to imply that a state nowadays would even dream of implementing anything like Jim Crow laws. Between then and now, racist group ideology and participation has steadily declined. The Ku Klux Klan membership has shrunken to negligible numbers. You will find more people to assemble for 'Magic: The Gathering'. In the modern day environment, it would be practically impossible to do such a thing when one takes into consideration the enormously bad press that the state would receive.

Just as a clarification, Mast: EU Member States pay loads of tax to the EU, and it's not really semi-governmental, it's a supranational government to which Members give up their sovereignty - EU Directives are indirectly totally binding.

Members don't pay a tax to the EU, they pay a membership fee. The EU has no right to assert taxes over the membership countries. They don't "give up" sovereignty, it's more as in sharing sovereignty.

The only difference between a tax and a membership fee is the name. They both do the same thing, get your moneys.
