The idea that someone could have a genuine disdain for creativity just doesn't really make sense to me. I am assuming there are other reasons for people liking sites that you find uninspired and unenjoyable, but it surly isn't due to the hatred of all things fresh and new. I understand that a lot of people five derivative, and/or stolen material, and that is an issue, but that isn't the same liking or disliking a site for other reasons, which seems to be the case.

As far as I know, there aren't a lot of cereal sites, and while maybe the implementation of these cereal mascots aren't the ideal, or incredibly inspired, it fits the bill, it is amusing, and it isn't stolen.

I'm pretty sure that upvoting all fad and nostalgia sites and downvoting all unconventional sites is not a step in the right direction. All it takes is 20% of people having this attitude for a non-fad or nostalgia-free site to never have a chance (as well as indifferent people raising the level of mediocre rehashed sites that the others must supersede). That this particular cereal character has not been used is not a glowing endorsement of originality. We've seen this trick before.

Yeah, yeah. Concept's been done before, I'll admit. But it was done well, and I still find it entertaining. That's enough for me. That, however, has absolutely nothing to do with how I vote on "creative" sites (I presume this definition entails that it is neither stolen nor follows a formula that has been used before). If I find it provocative or entertaining, I'll upvote it. I understand your concern; such sites will more than likely get lost in upvotes for less creative sites, but the fact remains...

Simple supply and demand. The tide of YTMND's voting patterns has changed many times. If they change to favor creativity, then you'll see more creativity because those sites that have it will rise above those that don't.
