What does it say? It's an IRC joke about the emoticon &./ which is a person who is drowning after he fell out of his wheelchair. And in between his eternal splashing about and the motion of the ocean you've got yourself movement in the form of animation. Here, though, is the representation of the collective state of mind of a town that has lost its law, identity, and stability. That's some off-IRC quality, there.

You could say that the site was an allegory for the loneliness and futility of life, as he's drowning in the sea of blah blah blah but that's pretty generic and cliché, isn't it? Hasn't that been done a thousand different ways? Isn't it not better to imagine a wheelchair bound person falling into the water off of a pier and watching the waves whip him around but never quite bringing him home to shore? Isn't it funny to think that I can leave the room and come back and he'll still be no closer to shore?

When I looked at tread, I saw a figure sitting on the dock, indifferent to the figure drowning helplessly before him. This dark image was portrayed within an innocent, childlike drawing, and set to a song equal parts melancholy and cheerful. It invokes some emotion, letting your mind wander with something like that. This site, I saw a guy doing the white stripes back-and-forth bullsh*t, and a rotating head lookin' all giddy. Regardless, this is just another lesson that everything's subjective.
