As an army soldier myself, I find this absolutely hilarious. And yes, our commercials are a wee bit excessive in getting the point across lol

I'll admit I get a bit pumped up by that. For us, though, that commercial is a bit of a barracks joke. Byrd was funny as hell, too, so this is close to the epitome of awesome.

The sync was really good, and the "resound from mountain to mountain..." part came just at the right time. It was just way to small and horrible quality.

I would have just loved to have made it larger, it's just that big, high-quality gifs tend to get into the f*cking 10 MB range.

it scares me that they actually have those advertisements on TV

2007-08-01 17:18:24

For some reason, this comercial reminds me of Starship Troopers. Maybe its just the exaggeratedly epic music, maybe it's something else...
2007-08-01 13:28:14

no wonder our army guys are committing suicide while people like you treat their sacrifice like it's nothing

oh and yes the commercials are a little ..too glorious

2007-08-01 13:38:36

I've got nothing against soldiers, per se (my dad's a vet, in fact); it's more that I found it ironic that relatively hawkish old Senators can call dogfighting barbaric while insisting on the necessity of war.

The funny thing is that this war isn't even legal, according to the U.N. and the Constitution of the United States.

Soldiers don't "sacrifice" anything, it was their choice to become a soldier, they knew (or should have known) what expected them, and they get paid for it. And please read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolchstosslegende I see some parallels, no offense meant.

"Soldiers don't "sacrifice" anything" - pull your head out of your *ss and crack a history book, you idiot.

2007-08-01 18:44:42

"because we have reason, we choose to join the army" "Soldiers don't "sacrifice" anything, it was their choice to become a soldier" Both of you are aware of this thing called the draft, yeah?

2007-08-01 18:51:23

What exactly do modern soldiers sacrifice? Who are they keeping you safe from? There are no Hitlers or Stalins left. America is unchallenged and they're being poor winners about it. GG, *ssh*les.

2007-08-01 18:55:48

most of them aren't just there for a paycheck. it is a sacrifice.

what year is it? why are there still wars? why the f*ck are people still memorized by power? aw yes, propaganda paid for by the american tax payer. if everyone is f*cking buying it who the f*ck has any sense to say stop, this is f*cking stupid. just f*cking drop some f*ckign wal*marts out of the sky and lets move the f*ck on. wtf.

2007-08-02 00:39:14

you can't get through 2 sentences without saying f*ck. anyway, pieces of SH*T like you always want to believe that the government is trying to convince you to do this or that and has to make your decisions for you. people can think for themselves. comparing soldiers to fighting dogs, yeah that's real mature. dogs don't make the decision to sign up... thats what it is a DECISION and im betting they didn't make that decision based off some stupid commercial. fight the power impotent little boy.

Since this has made the inevitable descent into politicization, I'll chime in. Like I said before, though, this is more about Byrd's words than it is about the Army. Do you think that anyone would *want* to join the military if they didn't have nationalistic propaganda hammered constantly into their brains? People are free to think, yes, but for all intents and purposes, thinking is limited to specific parameters. "Defend your country, earn your keep, don't question what we pass off as democracy."

2007-08-02 11:28:53

you're right, there should be no military
+1

2007-08-02 11:37:25

you have obviously ascended beyond identity, culture, and duty. no matter how sh*tty and unnecessary war is, it will always be a big part of our lives. we don't live in utopia and never will while on this Earth because for every person like you theres 2 stone age jackasses that believes violence is the ONLY answer. I for one am proud of our boys in the military. Someone's gotta do it.

2007-08-02 12:59:10

SSgtTCZ, of course soldiers usually think that they BRING a sacrifice for some higher cause, it motivates them. The Roman soldier thought they brought a sacrifice for their God-Emperor, many of Hitler's soldier's thought they brought a sacrifice for their Führer and the aryan race, and I'm sure almost every soldier thinks he's bringing a sacrifice for his homeland or his loved ones. But in fact they're just tools that are BEING sacrificed for the system they fight for, and they're lucky if it's a good one.

how trendy you are

2007-08-02 13:33:49

in fact i have an idea for my next site, it'll have byrd saying "the training of these poor creatures to turn themselves... into EATING machines.. is simply barbaric" and ill have a sonic/mcdonalds commercial playing in the background... just to put things into perspective

2007-08-02 18:13:52

"Sestet, there is no draft right now. idiot" Oh really? When did you stumble upon this shining revelation? I obviously am of inferior intelligence to you, so please, tell me more bluntly obvious things. What is it we humans breathe again? Maybe to shut up idiots like you, I should have said "you're aware we've HAD this thing called the draft..." Sorry to make you think you were smart for a second.

Wanna talk sacrifice? How about seeing your best friend killed by an IED? I'm sure all of your liberal media puts these deaths on every chance they get. I'm not saying that they're wrong. Yeah, war sucks. We shouldn't have to deal with this bullsh*t going on overseas. But unfortunately we don't have a choice. War was brought to us and we're not done fighting it yet. Every soldier knows what he's getting into and that s/he'll have to sacrifice his/her individual freedom so you can have it. so stay thankless.

2007-08-06 20:48:52

After all, it's your soldiers that are giving you your right to be free and to criticize anything you want.
