That is the problem with sensationalism and doing things because people will notice. If people would NOT upvote rehashes of sh*tty material, then they wouldn't be seen, and they could instead upvote original content, thus uplifting the best material AND fulfilling your high school mentality popularity requirements.

Popular opinion changes. Popular opinion is also not "The Opinion", it's just a majority opinion. There are plenty of people making and appreciating original content. However, there are also plenty of people who automatically dismiss anything new that say, "YTMND sucks and everything is old." Gee, I wonder how that happened. If someday the popular thing is to make original content on this site, then that'd be nice, but just because it isn't doesn't mean you have to be a fad whoring sheep.
