Um, films burned all the time with the old 2 projector system. They burned before the 80's and way before the introduction of the platter system and the "brain wraps". ---- spocket damage, bad splices, film jams all caused many a film to stop & burn. You must have seen an old film that depicted this sort of thing happening. ---- it's sort of cliche actually, you see it so often.
