We contribute, but not as much as politicians want us to think. We likely aren't yet halfway to the next ice age, so it should be getting warmer, anyway. However, the concept of the influence of mankind and technology on nature - and the bad effects our dramatic alteration of the ecosystem may cause - is a worthy area of investigation and caution, in general.

oh i totally agree that democrats use global warming as a political issue to gain support they don't need. i also think republicans do exactly the same thing except have the opposite viewpoint. it just so happens that the democrats happen to be right that it IS an issue. some exaggerate it, and sure there are equally or more important issues such as poverty, health care, prejudice, etc but it's still important for people to recognize that we're destroying the world and one aspect of that is global warming

Science, not politics or evangelism, has the authority to say that global warming is or is not happening and that we as humans are the cause. Coincidentally, almost everyone that does not believe in or criticizes the notion of global warming does not have any formal training in the field of biology and environmental science. Seems kind of odd, but then again, whoever can shout the loudest wins, right?

And as a side note, I have an undergraduate degree in biology. What does this mean? It means that I've read the journals (academic journals, not "newsweek")and done the research, and the same thing has been verified by multiple independent research efforts. It's happening. We caused it. The evidence is there, you just have to stop ignoring it.
