skyburner is right. it doesnt work that they paid '9 dollars each'.each guy paid ten dollars. the real price was 25 dollars and the other guy had the other 5. the guy takes a 2 dollar tip and gives them three dollars back. so they paid 9.33 dollars each, 28 between them for the room. it seems as tho they paid nine dollars, but it doesnt work like that. piss poor riddle

Really your solving the wrong equation. They each paid $9 dollars. 9*3=27 then the person takes $2.00 27-2=25 and $25.00 is the cost of the room. Amazing! you don't add the 2 you subtract.
