The NIN sample ought to be shorter. Most people don't care enough to wait it out. Just enough to get the idea, since they can look the songs up on their own if they really care.

Thanks for putting this suggestion from me up, I've been griping about it for some time. If you listen to the vocals they sound the same as well, especially the third verse of "Last" compared to the entire song by Godsmack. Plus the short part after the verses sound the same as well.

The members of Godsmack have said many times how they're fans of NIN, so it's not surprising that they're influenced, or in this case, heavily influenced by NIN. And if you want an exact comparison, listen to NIN's A Warm Place and David Bowie's Crystal Japan. The same thing there is happening here. NIN > *
