Description: This is meant as a semi-humorous tribute to great dead musicians ('cept John Denver, hate that guy). They're all awesome and I wish I could have met them.

Will be adding a few more (Jimi, Elvis, etc.). If you want to see a musician added (has to be rather influential and part of music history) just leave a comment. I have a good memory for dead musicians, but not that great!

2007-03-29 10:07:20

the obvious: Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Richie Valens

2007-03-29 19:13:09

Before I even clicked, I said to myself "this is getting a 1 if theres no Zappa". Good work! Also, don't add anymore, everyone who is asking you to is a f*ggot.

can you slow it down a bit? they go by pretty quick...
-1

2007-03-29 09:02:23

Problem is going too fast or too slow, heh. You either go too slow and lose their attention or too fast and ruin the vibe. Will up the frames from 3 to 3.5-4.
+1
2007-03-29 08:59:58

1'd for rock :P
-5

2007-03-29 09:03:22

Pfft, then you should be happy about them being dead. Your logic is flawed!

:(
2007-03-29 09:36:16

I laughed at the Rick Allen.
2007-03-29 09:37:00

How about adding Lane Staley?
+1

2007-03-29 09:58:51

I second Staley and Barrett. You should add Paul McCartney and put "John buried him". Stevie Ray Vaughn and Randy Rhodes as well. You should use "You can't kill rock and roll" by Ozzy as the song...although I'm a huge Zeppelin fan, so you get a 5 anyway.
+2

2007-03-29 14:18:21

Agreed with BBQ; you can't have a dead rockstars tribute without Stevie and Randy.
-1

2007-03-29 14:19:38

Btw, Randy rhoads died because he was in a plane being flown by a coked-up pilot buzzing ozzy's tour bus. There's a joke in there somewhere.

2007-03-29 14:32:06

Tangerine is such a good song too.
-1
2007-03-29 09:44:16

Update#1: Added Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, and Jimi Hendrix. Each frame now lasts 4 seconds up from 3.
-1
2007-03-29 09:57:24

Next update will fix the errors caused by this update (my ImageReady is being very buggy, whenever I save some text disappears /sigh), and will add blues musicians interspersed (Elmore James, Lead Belly, John Lee Hooker, etc.). And I think I'll exchange Mozart for Beethoven (he is after all the roots of rock). Was only using Mozart as a "wtf?" moment anyways.

2007-03-29 09:57:34

5'd just for being TV'sFrank. Though, not to stir up trouble, I think the circumstances of Jimi's death were slightly different than those of Bonham's. Both died, technically, in their sleep, but I think Jimi overdosed while Bonham choked. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, the point being here is that you get a 5.
-1
2007-03-29 09:59:46

Also, Syd Barrett, Roger Water's credibility and sense of shame, and Shannon Hoon. I'm not saying Shannon Hoon was influential, but he's one of the few rock stars the AdCouncil think people still remember and use for their anti-drug ads. Nobody remembers Shannon Hoon quite like the people who want to exploit death to save some kids. Am I right?
2007-03-29 10:00:18

Problem is many of the deaths aren't cut and dry (one says overdose for Jimi, other says choking on vomit from too many sleeping pills). I try and use the supposed circumstance that makes it a bit funny, or gives meaning. In this case, making you remember how Bonham died to understand how Jimi did.

Oh, and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Brian Epstein (Beatle's manager), and for sh*t's n'giggles, Paul McCartney.
-3

2007-03-29 10:05:28

I'd rather go with the 5th Beatle than a manager. More humorous and still a musician. And yes, forgot about Brain Jones. Next update be in a few hours, gonna relax, heh.

Did you know that John Denver defended the likes of Twisted Sister and other such band in court when Al Gore's retarded wife called them up on charges of "attempting to incite indecent thoughts and disturb the mind of our youth"? He was a huge advocate of free speech, especially in music. But at least you included him, and you may have your opinion, so take your 5.

I don't know how many metal ones you want to do, but Chuck Schuldiner from Death is dead. The joke's a bit old, but it could still be material for this.

Rock and roll died along with its best standard-bearers. What's left today is a pathetic shell of its former glory. Way to remind me.

Are people fiving this simply because they know some of those dead humans? 'Cause there's no other logical reason. Besides, you forgot El Duce, GG Allin, Pig Champion, Darby Crash, and, uhhh, Jam Master Jay.
-2

2007-03-29 19:54:50

GG Allin... Hahaha, wow. I wouldn't really describe him as a musician, more of a junkie who likes to 'interact' with his audience a bit too much.

2007-03-29 19:55:31

Also, thank you for not using "Stairway to Heaven."
2008-09-06 18:02:38

you should put these in chronological order or something...

2009-06-27 20:34:01

It got started as alphabetical, got f*cked up by suddenly going alphabetical via first name, then well lost most of it's order. I think I'll do a continuation using the song I originally wanted to use for this. I'm bored and feeling quasi-creative lately, but not creative enough to figure out what to do a waterocolor of.
