Well now that I really think about it, for someone to be as educated as you are making yourself out to be, I find it difficult to understand how you can't be versed in this era's common usage of the word "f*g" as a common derivative term labeled to people who cause one annoyance and incite hate. There's a difference between laughing at a racist joke and using a slur pertaining to homosexuality as a genuine insult. Hell, I laugh at gay jokes too, but I do so insofar as they are jokes and not actual barbs in the way that referring to someone as "f*g" seems to indicate. No hypocrisy here, just fine nuance.
