I use Flash for movie ripping and gif animation, audacity for regular sound edits, and gimp for regular image edits. Does anyone have something that I can rip audio off of a movie file from? PS: It is green.

Thank you. I don't want see another YTMND that was made with MS paint, ever.
2007-02-05 01:12:48

This site is incredibly lame, yet informative.
2007-02-05 01:46:53

This is crap, but informative to noobs and we should be fair to them. When they try, they're great. But then they go and upvote fad comps... I'm breaking ranks and giving this a 5.
2007-02-05 01:57:51

5'd and fav'd for future refernce. Thanks for sharing.

Okay, computers know when I'm around so I may need a little guidance. I got Audacity, and I'll need to learn that program but that shouldn't be a problem. However, when I downloaded The Gimp 2, I got a compressed folder with no installation file, so it won't run. WTH?
2007-02-05 03:17:43

I hate to be one of the noobs asking questions in the comments about programs, but what's a good free gif dealy for OSX? I've got Windows on this computer, but I don't want to have to switch over all the time (I only have Photoshop on OSX).
2007-02-05 03:36:19

Virtual Dub does that? Now I have to spend hours trying to work out how. :/
2007-02-05 03:59:18

2007-02-05 04:02:53

Other than Audacity, they're all new to me. Thanks! :-D

Brotha, rather than make a site about it, put this info in the wiki.
2007-02-05 05:43:45

People without the slightest clue on how to pirate (or use) the more upscale/decent programs like photoshop and imageready really shouldn't be making YTMNDs at all.

i use mostly animation shop, photoshop, nero wave editor etc. But i would like to know what do pro guys use for video tracking... Like rogerdaltwii.ytmnd.com? Was it made with After Effect?

THANK YOU! Finally we won't have to listen to "i mayd it in paint so it sucks but vote 5 anyways n00bz!1!11!!eleventy!". Some other good free programs: Paint.NET (Like GiMP but easier) http://www.getpaint.net CamStudio (free screen recording software, dump it to a bunch of PNGs and doctor them up!) http://www.camstudio.org/Teragen (makes some NICE terrain backgrounds) http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/

cool
2007-02-05 08:15:14

Don't forget MSPaint for basic image editing, Rad Video Tools (http://www.radgametools.com/) for movie / sound extraction to image sequences, QuickTime for the same with Flash (limited, but still). If you wanna pay, but not much, I say drop $130 into Paint Shop Pro X and JASC Animation Shop; they are what I use. Also Poland
2007-02-05 08:17:54

Welp...I prefer using highly expensive programs that I er...purchase >_>
2007-02-05 08:32:24

Ironically, your image citation was made use of no proper English.
2007-02-05 08:45:10

^lol Duck.. I sometimes use about 10 different programs to make a site, but it depends on where I'm pulling the content from. PM me if you want a list of all the programs and procedures I use.
2007-02-05 09:00:50

Tanks, now I can remove cracked photoshop 'n sound forge off mah werk PC. urock.

2007-02-05 09:41:22

I just saw Lady in the Water then visited this site. 5
2007-02-05 09:50:36

Ok so some people keep complaining about this YTMND. I really don't care what it is rated since it is just a helpful annoucement for some. I do care how many people see it though and so if it is rated low then nobody will know about these programs and they will continue to use MS Paint to put Bush's face on a hot dog and use the Batman ualuealuealeuale music. If they at least have access to programs like this, I expect the quality of YTMNDs to go up. (Now they will be animated pictures of Bush's face, lol)
2007-02-05 10:01:00

Thank you, that was really helpful!
2007-02-05 10:16:59

Or... you know... every program that is available via torrents and whatnot... FREE!
2007-02-05 10:20:37

You truly are the king of kings.

thank you, oh wise one... i will use this knowledge and make you proud papa...
2007-02-05 11:00:53

Photoshop, Goldwave, Wavepad, Imageready (came with Photoshop) Magix Music Maker, standard Windows Text 2 Speech, and, ofcourse, not to forget, some stupid creativity.
2007-02-05 11:01:28

But lol, their not free except for upvoters ;)
2007-02-05 11:12:24

They have this awesome thing called a forum where you can post things like this. This isn't a YTMND.
2007-02-05 11:27:22

I love you ever so much. The only one of these that I use is Audacity, which annoys me with the huge files it outputs, but still. Now I can make some of the sites that I've been thinking of. Marry me.
2007-02-05 11:34:53

what about snowflakes?
2007-02-05 11:37:31

PS Thanks to this site i expect YTMND to really improve!
2007-02-05 13:25:51

Goldwave, is a free sound editor.
2007-02-05 13:28:00

Too bad there is no way to get Adobe Photoshop and Audition for free right?
2007-02-05 13:29:03

"People without the slightest clue on how to pirate (or use) the more upscale/decent programs like photoshop and imageready really shouldn't be making YTMNDs at all." Exactly
2007-02-05 13:33:59

even though there are a lot less tools, for just making plain ol loops and simple mixes i really do prefer the simple (and free) Wavepad over Audacity. that and the free version of Audacity has repeatedly given me the Blue Screen of Death.
2007-02-05 13:35:56

i also agree with idownvotetheives to an extent. i'd figure anyone who would want to make more elaborate sites would have the drive to find these things out themselves. but if even a few people can pull something from this and make something i like this site is worth making.
2007-02-05 13:44:16

What's with the ridiculous load time?

Text gets top viewed? :|
2007-02-05 18:07:26

This is the "Free Edition" meaning it is really free. (for those who don't want to pirate software) Also I think that there is a lot of creativity bottled up out there waiting to be expressed. I just wanted to give some people the chance to do that. I really think the quality of YTMND will go up if more people have access to the process of creation.
2007-02-05 18:50:37

The Gimp needs a complier. :(

2007-02-05 20:56:14

This is great. This should really help those without experience to actually create good ytmnd's. Theres probably alot of ideas out there that poeple can't turn into sites. maybe this will help create some great ytmnd's.
2007-02-05 21:06:44

very very helpful site
2007-02-05 21:36:05
