No, I haven't. I actually originally got a silver bar for my 10th birthday and it went from there, I now have a substantial amount of gold and silver stacking up. I know a few people that lost thousands in the stock market, too.

Yeah, 3,000 years of history in which gold has maintained value means nothing.

Why is it that people say gold would keep value in some catastrophic situation. If the world went into some crap hole, why would people still want pretty jewelery, gold is only worth something for the same reason as cash(and no, cash is not backed by gold), because people make it worth something.
