Good tribute, and Steve Irwan was a good guy. But unfourtnently, ALOT of people lose their parrents. I did. Did I get recognised world wide or donated to? No, and I wouldn't want to be. They'll live. Life goes on. 3 for the memory of him making me go, "Damn this dude is nuts."
2006-09-07 21:27:40

MM7, I'm so sorry about your parents. I realize this kind of thing happens everyday; I was just particularly heartbroken over this situation.

2006-09-07 21:44:52

Everytime I almost stop being sort of sad about Steve.. another site like this appears.. thanks..
2006-09-07 21:45:05

Not bad.
2006-09-07 21:48:17

this is what the irwin tributes should be. a sincere and respectful dedication.
2006-09-07 21:49:09

Waaaah, and a Hezbollah rocket killed a family of 12 last week. One less taipan getting ripped out of its burrow by the tail. Fail.

2006-09-07 21:50:58

good pics of steve.
2006-09-07 21:52:04

How about all the marines and army who die in iraq and leave behind their wives and kids. no one makes donations to them. I think they are as big as heros as steve was.
2006-09-07 21:56:43

the most respectful tribute i've seen. thanks for taking the time to honor steve like this. it's true that the greatest tragedy is the one his family has to endure.
2006-09-07 21:59:36

*lifts up candle*
2006-09-07 22:01:53

nice tribute :)
2006-09-07 22:03:49

Uhhh, no offense, but the guy grabbed deadly animals by the tail for a living. I'm not gloating in his death, but anyone who was shocked that he died doesn't quite get the finer points of natural selection and ought to stay away from the beach, the woods, the jungle, and New York.
2006-09-07 22:05:48

80% of ytmnd users don't have fathers, and that's why they're f*cked up. 5'd.
2006-09-07 22:07:23

Good choice with the music.
2006-09-07 22:07:35

-3 for religion...
2006-09-07 22:09:57

I was going to 1 this because this isn't funny and I didn't come to ytmnd to feel sad. but the last comment made me add three because it was such a stupid reason to minus three
2006-09-07 22:10:02

and here i was waiting for NEDM

Needs NEDM
2006-09-07 22:10:34

Anyone who says something bad about this YTMND has no soul. It's horrid and cruel. Thank you for this. I almost cried. :( God Bless them.
2006-09-07 22:11:09

yeah, that was my first thought when I heard of his death. real sad
2006-09-07 22:11:42

Anyone who downvotes this is a heartless neanderthal. I nearly cried...
2006-09-07 22:14:47

Finally, a memorial site that managed to be respectful and not have that feeling of "ZOMG FIRST SITE TO POST DEATH".
2006-09-07 22:18:15

.... man, I'm almost crying... poor kids....
2006-09-07 22:19:37

Okay look, I under-stand mourning a bit...but do you realize how many people lose people? And DONATING? That's going to an extreme.

2006-09-07 22:44:27

God damn it, I cried.
2006-09-07 22:52:46

These kids are, of all kids, some of the luckiest kids in the world. They have plenty of money, they had a good father while he was alive (as rumor has it), and they'll be able to go as far as they can take themselves. Starving kids with deadbeat dads who never cared to begin with and without the money to ensure (and insure) their health, happiness, and education are the ones that have it rough. Maybe it's hard for some people to keep things in perspective, but it's not. People just suck at life.

the downvoters don't have dads, pray for them as well
2006-09-07 23:31:15

and huzzahs to you for having the cajones to use the word "pray" without making a joke on a secular site.
2006-09-07 23:38:47

He provoked deadly animals on a daily basis. It's his own damn fault. He put his family in this situation. I'm sure he had enough money and/or other ways to pay the bills. He didn't have to keep risking his life after having children, but he chose to. I feel bad for his kids and wife, but have no sympathy whatsoever for Steve. Furthermore I'm sick and f*cking tired of seeing these goddamn "tribute" sites all over YTMND. Stop it.
2006-09-07 23:41:56

Very good, I could not agree more. Specially since I got teased all day at work for making a really sad face when people were making jokes about his death.
2006-09-07 23:41:56

Great tribute, you win.
2006-09-07 23:47:42

A++++
2006-09-07 23:52:32

EvilRegal, shut the f*ck up. He was trying to save animals. He didn't care about money, or sh*t like that, he cared about animals themselves. He WAS caring for his family when he died, because he was filming for a show his DAUGHTER was hosting. YOU SUCK ASS.
2006-09-07 23:55:48

Tastefully done.
2006-09-07 23:56:50

Evilregal, he was a professional. His show became popular because people thought he was putting his life in danger frequently, but the truth is, he knew what he was doing. And his goal wasn't to provoke animals, but to stress the importance of conservation by getting people excited about them.
2006-09-08 00:01:06

Best Irwin site. Period.
2006-09-08 00:01:55

Wow, you two are incredibly dellusional. Of course he cared about animals, but many times he did in fact provoke them to make good television. You can't tell me going out into the wild and putting an unsuspecting croc in a bear hug is somehow an effort to save animals. Some of what he did was simply showmanship, and it was dangerous...and if you think he was perfectly safe simply because he was a trained professional, you're clueless.
2006-09-08 00:03:48

Oh, so you're basically calling the whole world clueless?
2006-09-08 00:05:53

I'm pretty sure I cried at some point in there.
2006-09-08 00:05:54

touching. brings a tear to my eyes.
2006-09-08 00:08:19

And hypnotist, I'm not saying he was a bad father, but the fact remains that even after having kids...he continued to put himself in harms way and risked his life interacting with dangerous wild animals. He made a name for himself a long time ago. He could easily have continued his noble conservationist cause without gambling with his life in the wild. He kept gambling even after having children, and it caught up with him. His kids now have to live with his choice and the ramifications as such.
2006-09-08 00:10:20

Because he loves animals! He loves what he did! Who in the hell would expect a stingray to attack? That's just incredibly unexpected, you can't even blame his job on that.
2006-09-08 00:12:31

"Oh, so you're basically calling the whole world clueless?" Jesus Christ kid, do you have reading issues? Re-read what I wrote. If the "whole world" thinks he was PERFECTLY SAFE, then yes, I'm calling the whole world clueless. Man....
2006-09-08 00:13:34

Oh wow, it's called a f*cking exaggeration. Apparently, reading comprehention>YOU TOO.
2006-09-08 00:14:29

"That's just incredibly unexpected, you can't even blame his job on that." Unexpected or not, yes you can definitely blame his job on that. He was swimming near deadly stingrays. If he had stopped messing around with wild animals after having children, it wouldn't have happened. What is so hard to understand about that?
2006-09-08 00:14:44

1 famous person dies, its a tragedy. 1000 people die every day from some cruel injustice of our world, its a statistic.
2006-09-08 00:15:07

He wasn't "Messing around" with the animals. Apparently you can't understand that, douche.
2006-09-08 00:15:45

Your "exaggeration" doesn't fit into the context of where one would use an exxageration. But nice try attempting to cover up being wrong.
2006-09-08 00:16:05

Hypnotist is right, people come in contact with stingrays all the time just swimming at the beach. His death had nothing to do with irresponsibility, it was just a horrible freak accident.
2006-09-08 00:17:13

LISTEN MORON. HE WAS IN THE PRESENCE OF DEADLY ANIMALS ON A REGULAR BASIS. I DON'T CARE HOW CAREFUL OR TRAINED YOU ARE, YOU'RE INCREASING YOUR CHANCES OF DIEING JUST BEING AROUND THEM. WHAT PART OF THAT IS SO INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND?
2006-09-08 00:18:42

Johnny, it didn't have to be a stingray, it could have been any number of deadly creatures. It was only a matter of time. And for the matter, there are many types of stingrays. Most people aren't coming in to contact with the deadly variety he was swimming with.
2006-09-08 00:18:42

Regal, why don't you go put yourself in the presence of a deadly animal?
2006-09-08 00:19:54

That's it. I'm done trying to reason with you two mouth-breathing boobs. Continue living your happy lives of delusion and naivety. As they say, ignorance is bliss...
2006-09-08 00:23:23

Flawless. ^_^
2006-09-08 00:32:24

Regal, I agree with you and I've stressed this point. While it was ironic that a mostly-harmless stingray killed him, he still put his life on the line with no regard to his family. Now they have no father. Who's fault is it? Who chose to keep putting his life on the line, and had skewed priorities? He did alot for animals, but hurt his family in the process. If he wanted to keep taking life risks, he should of never had kids.
2006-09-08 00:46:43

Sure he was a great guy, but his family doesn't need the money. Salary "Crocodile Hunter" (1996) $16,300,000 (Australian)
2006-09-08 00:47:21

Evilregal, that's the equivelant to saying "f*ck all" to some police officer dying, because he chose to be in the presence of criminals. Would you have no compassion there? Obviously it was his fault he was around dangerous animals, but the fact still remains, any death no matter how likely is a tragedy. I would understand your point more if he was a pedophile or murderer, but he was a good person. You are a disgrace to civilization. Sorry.
2006-09-08 00:50:49

You made me cry like a little bitch
2006-09-08 00:52:41

death happens, the Tao goes on, do not dwell on the past, and do not honor the famous over the not-so famous. Also midvote.
2006-09-08 01:00:07

Skunt, didn't mean to suggest that his family needed donations to get by, I just felt people would appreciate having a link they could go to and feel like they've accomplished something positive. This was a charity that Steve was involved in chosen by the family. Obviously money is the least of the family's worries right now =(
2006-09-08 01:01:21

I despise such mock-up "tributes", and the crocodile tears that surround them.

2006-09-08 02:15:48

Wins for the truth. :')
2006-09-08 02:27:49

Owned. The guy had it coming sooner or later with dealing with those dangerous animals. Where's teh f*cking whining for the cops and soldiers who die because of war or crime? There is none, yet some wanker goes on TV, messes with dangerous animals, gets killed because he MESSES with deadly animals, and everyone is disappointed. Natural selection at it's best. If he enjoyed it, then great! However he knew the consequences, otherwise he would have probaly grew up to be a doctor or lawyer. Stop bitching for so long everyone. It's like saying, "Omg, someone let some deadly pissed off snakes out, but the snake killed the person who let them free and pissed them off." I liked the guy, but again, he knew the consequences in his line of work.
2006-09-08 02:29:07

What makes him so special? If you're going to donate your money, I say give it to someone who actually needs/deserves it. Give to the Salvation Army, Red Cross, United Way. There are literally dozens of worthwhile charities out there that could be better served with your time and money.
2006-09-08 02:55:16

not cool my brother died that way
2006-09-08 02:57:23

some used the stalin quote about 1 man=tragedy, 1000=statistic, and they're absolutely right. However, +2 for a decent ytmnd on a hopefully done fad

2006-09-08 05:10:41

Fav'd. Steve Irwin was an idol to me, and I like ytmnd's that honor him.
2006-09-08 05:18:11

oh STFU, we dont donate to marines and the army? maybe you dont, others do, we honor them through veterans and memorial day, if your saying people dont honor or donate or help them, sounds like you have a guilty mind. as for people saying their parents died or whatever, sorry for your loss but that doesn't knock down the fact a great man died, was he well known? yes he was, but he also did alot for the world and he was a very positive person, unlike some of you *ssh*l*es.
2006-09-08 05:19:13

By far the best tribute.
2006-09-08 05:32:29

2006-09-08 06:06:53

If you honestly believe steve irwin "had it coming", then you are a dumbsh*t. For the most part, deadly animals are only deadly to dumbasses who have no idea to handle these animals. For god's sake, automobiles kill more people worldwide every year than deadly animals do. And most of us here are in a car everyday. Why? Because we take precautions to protect us, even in the face of something that could very well be considered deadly. He did the same. If there was ever a d oubt about the safety of Steve OR the animal, the shoot would simply not be done. Steve was never reckless with his job, and took it very seriously.
2006-09-08 06:08:14

Nicely done and well said. Gosh that was depressing though.. in a good way. *sniff*
2006-09-08 06:23:57

goooood stuff, good stuff
2006-09-08 06:27:22

Your first few slides were absolutely right. Someone's death doesn't just become old news. Those idiots who say so wouldn't stop mourning a week after their mom died, would they? So then, they should all just shut up.
2006-09-08 06:49:29

There's a good debate here but this is just getting a three from me. It sucks to see him gone, it sucks that he left his family behind, there are too many YTMND sites about him, and this wasn't all that bad. But, still. Anyway, I'm out.
2006-09-08 07:10:21

Well done. That's about all there is to say.
2006-09-08 07:49:24

Waaaaaa. People die, it happens.
2006-09-08 08:15:10

LOL LEIK FUSK STEVE UP HIS STUPID ASS... J/K, miss you steve!
2006-09-08 08:36:44

nice !!1 nedm would have got you 5
2006-09-08 09:09:45

I am tired of seeing this. I was hoping for an NEDM interrupt (hence the need to preload). But, now you've done and used the preloader when there's no sync, which earns you an instant 1.
2006-09-08 09:11:16

i love how soldiers that get shot in the face fighting in iraq dont get a millionth the attention this guy gets for f*cking with a stingray...
2006-09-08 10:19:43

Beautiful.
2006-09-08 11:01:37

Wow, just great work.
2006-09-08 11:02:30

^^^ oh, and he's a calabrity, thats why he gets attention. ^^^
2006-09-08 11:44:22

At least it was more tasteful than most of these silly tributes.
2006-09-08 12:13:13

Also, he didn't wrestle crocs for nothing. He mostly moved them away from villages or built up areas where they might harm or be harmed by humans. The only way to do that is by wrestling them. Someone has to do it. He just filmed it. Also he educated us, not just about crocs, but other animals too, and he made it exciting. A Dad who is adored by his *young* kids dying early = sad, no matter how you look at it.
2006-09-08 12:14:21

=(
2006-09-08 12:15:57

Someone dying? SO UNBELEIVABLE ITS NOT AS IF BAZILLIONS OF PEOPEL DIE VERY DAY OR ANYTHING!?!?!?!
2006-09-08 13:09:57

....i almost shed a tear, you're right...the saddest part is the kids growing up w/out him
2006-09-08 13:23:20

Because obviously, steve irwin kids are the only ones to lose their father, right?

i would like to remind YTMND that no matter how many people die each day, bindi and bob only had one father and the world has lost one of its most passionate conservationists. stop being little bitches, hm? 5'd for almost making me cry =(

3: needs more NEDM or owls or something.
2006-09-08 14:15:07

Glad to see this got a good rating. Shows that people on YTMND care. This is by far the best tribute, better than "lol heaven" and "steve irwin had one weakness"
2006-09-08 14:23:59

5'ed... And you guys who downvote for the sake of downvoting only get seen as 14 year-olds that didn't get hugged enough.... oh wait... you are. :D

i was neutral on this till i saw Bigun's retarded comment. If you are gonna try to make fun people on the internet, come up with new material at least. Oh one more thing. Bigun go look in the mirror and just cry about what your life is.
2006-09-08 14:37:24

Soon as you claimed an 8-year-old used the term "Conservation issues" it lost all novelty
2006-09-08 14:52:47

so f*cking depressing :(

2006-09-08 15:34:31

Truly a tribute worthy of being in Steve Irwin's memory. Thank you for making this.
2006-09-08 15:34:53

Adverb, I was just quoting an article at http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,20357000-948,00.html . She might've been helped a little with the quote, or maybe she's just a really eloquent girl. Regardless, I think it's obvious the sentiment was genuine.
2006-09-08 15:37:26

very well done
2006-09-08 15:57:01

Well done.
2006-09-08 16:08:02

+1 for beautifulness. +1 for "too soon" and "we'll miss you mate" -1 for it not ending in NEDM, that would have been the best NEDM site ever. +1 for for considering the family and not just the man. -1 for yet another tribute site ______________________________ Subtotal: 2 +1 for every downvoter Final score: 5
2006-09-08 16:11:01

this should be played on TV
2006-09-08 16:14:25

I was sort of saddened hearing about his death for the first time, but of course it wasn't surprising. A lot of people think he just went out and picked on wild animals on video to, I dunno, get rich I guess. But the truth is he did a lot of good conservational work, as did his wife along with him. I keep thinking about his wife and children and my heart goes out to them. This YTMND emphasized their loss. However, Steve Irwin will never die as long as people continue making YTMND'S about him (just bring back the funny).

damn you! you made me FEEL!!!
2006-09-08 17:07:51

He was indeed a good man, and it's actually very strange that the barb happened to strike him right through the heart, and also rare that stingrays attack at all. We could use a lot more people like Steve, at least he was a good role model for many people while he was here.
2006-09-08 17:20:24

All right, fine. You say you lost your parents too? Whoopee. Donate to a wildlife conservation fund, then.
2006-09-08 17:32:34

Best tribute thus far.
2006-09-08 17:34:19

how can you think this is sad? and how can you say its unexpected. he's out there with deadly animals everyday. i dont find this unexpected or sad at all. why dont you make a tribute site for everyone who loses their parents, not just the famous ones k?
2006-09-08 17:35:33

Steve Irwin dies, Dick Cheney and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad live. I am so f*cking disillusioned.
2006-09-08 18:12:42

2006-09-08 18:54:15

That brought a tear to my eye.
2006-09-08 19:22:37

With all due respect for the late Steve Irwin and his family, here's a quote from Futurama: "Is there anything I can do?" "Well, we could engage in a silent prayer" "Yes, but is there anything useful we could do?" "No, not really." You could donate or send letters of support but praying just makes the air molecules you're using holier.
2006-09-08 19:34:03

MM7 - prolly cause youre gay

this is better than the other tributes
2006-09-08 19:50:09

"it's hard to believe something like this could happen" - are you f*cking daft? Did you forget the parts where he f*cks with deadly animals?
2006-09-08 19:55:20

Nice.
2006-09-08 20:06:06

NoTransFat, my point was that, on a basic level, it's hard to comprehend someone so energetic and full of life, not to mention so young, actually dying. The guy just exuded optimism, not to mention he was strong as an ox. The only thing I can think to compare it to would be if Lance Armstrong suddenly died, although I'm not sure if even he is as universally liked as Steve was.
2006-09-08 20:21:09

And cyberen, whether you believe in prayer or not, I just wanted to stress that the effect of this on Steve's family is something we all should give pause to consider right now. There are those out there who believe in prayer, and if you do, now would certainly be the time for it. But to each his own. I also included the link to donations for those who wish to respond in that way.

beautiful tribute. 5'd in honor of Steve. I shall keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.
2006-09-08 22:13:56

Never EVER use an emoticon to express a moment of serious sadness. Please, emoticons are not emotions; they do not express what they look like: they only express that you're an idiot, but this is a fantastic site despite that "=(", so five'd.
2006-09-08 22:28:56

I meant the "=(" in all seriousness; I just remember reading that quote in an article and it being especially poignant to me.

2006-09-08 23:00:30

"why dont you make a tribute site for everyone who loses their parents, not just the famous ones k?" If someone else wants to get the word out on the loss of their parents, we'll make a tribute for them. Esp. if their dad did good things like try and conserve wildlife. Downvoters, for this site, fail at life. 4'd for an attempt to be genuine and not making some lame mockery of a man's death.
2006-09-08 23:48:06

F*ck you man. This guy made millions off sticking his fingers up animals asses. What about the family man who is robbed by some peice of sh*t and killed? What abou the soldier in Iraq who joined the military to get an education and was killed by a f*cking raghead car bomb? F*ck this guy man. F*ck his family they have so much money wtf do they gotta worry bout.

2006-09-08 23:57:03

I was waiting for someone to make this site. Very cool. I reflect these sentiments. To those flaming this site saying, "HE DESERVED IT HE DID DANGEROUS SH*T - LOOK AT HOW EDGY I AM FOR ARGUING," he was more than just a sideshow on television. He was one of the worlds leading conservationists and wildlife experts. A very interesting, characmatic man. I am very sad that he went the way he did.
2006-09-08 23:58:37

In my opinion the best tribute yet. Would have been sadder with that Sinzan Norrath farewell music though. =)
2006-09-09 00:48:10

Prayers do nothing, but yes, sad.
2006-09-09 01:55:48

Problematic representation of utility. Conservationism is very important, and other people lose their family all the time. Sad, yes, but not more sad than the end of his career (hopefully his influence has had most of its impact). Also, why pray when it does nothing? Instead, we could all be active in efficacious ways.
2006-09-09 02:03:08

Very respectful and well put-together.
2006-09-09 02:31:41

if you liked this site, you'll hate this one: lolwidow.ytmnd.com
2006-09-09 08:43:57

You didn't see this coming?!? The f*cker pissed off wild, and usually dangerous, animals FOR A LIVING! But good point. I'm sure he's the only man ever to die and leave a family in mourning. It's so rare. Just doesn't happen. Ever. Jesus Christ Mohammed Ali!
2006-09-09 08:46:46

I care about his death more than the sh*t I flush everyday LOLOLOLOL
2006-09-09 11:56:54

Poopsy, as I said, I REALIZE THIS SORT OF THING HAPPENS EVERYDAY. This is just a more visible situation because Steve was such a well-liked guy and did such important work. If you think his career only amounted to pissing off animals, you just couldn't be more wrong.
2006-09-09 13:13:40

Donations = genius. Prayer = retarded.
2006-09-09 13:15:40

I am sure that his family is well off to begin with and dont need any more of my money.
2006-09-09 13:27:58

5'd for having the guts to ask for prayer--which DOES work, BTW, no matter if you believe in it or not--and for a very classy tribute to an incredibly decent man and his family. Also, crocs.
2006-09-09 13:35:24

i lost my father too, best thing you could ever do to the Irwin family is let them mourn in peace. also, he held his kid while feeding a crocodile, what a great father

This is the second Steve Irwin YTMND that I actually like.
2006-09-09 14:49:58

He died, etc...
2006-09-09 14:51:07

You play with fire, you get burned. If he cared so much about his family, maybe he wouldn't have chosen such a dangerous career? Besides, families losing the father is not a rare occurence. This case is no different than any other, except that he's a celebrity.
2006-09-09 16:11:15

Thousands of children lose their parents every day. Just because him and his family are in the media, I should pay special attention to them? Do us a favour stop preaching.

MM7; yeah, but your parents never did anything cool like steve irwin did.
