oh god man, why? that was one of my favourite parts of the whole thing. I love how it's just silly throughout and doesn't try to be scary at all.

This site reminds me of one time a few years back that a musician friend of mine was performing at a party at some guy's run-down house in the city, and he invited me along. And by the time we arrived (no later than 7:00 or 8:00) everyone at the party were either alseep, passed out, or high on shrooms to the point of incoherence. And there was a pile of decapitated dolls laying in a heap in the middle of the living room, and the heads were nowhere to be found. We never did find out what that was all about.

I disagree. the premise is spooky but the fact that the music is NES and the narration is light-hearted and casual undermines any possibility for seriousness or spookiness. overall the real mood in this YTMND is just weirdness, subtle discomfort offset by overall goofiness. it's an absurdity and a curiousity, and it doesn't have to try to be spooky (as you say) because the premise is all that's spooky about it.
