the "it's a trap" needs to be more of a surprise, the way it was for me was there was a second of him and then the audio came out. also sync problems on the loop. good otherwise.

Sonic 1's code is easy, Sonic 3's level select code is impossible.

mcbridge got the code incorrect, that's the Konami code. The Sonic 1 level select code is up down left right a+start. The sonic 2 level select code was much more complex and involved selecting specific numbers in the sound test.

It would fit better, perhaps, if you spliced it in right after the "FINAL ACT" is displayed in the background. Just a suggestion...you know, to keep you all occupied.
