5'd for great justice.
2006-07-27 16:23:27

You smart mother f*cker.
2006-07-27 16:23:48

bueno
2006-07-27 16:25:12

good to see the word of creative commons being spread.
2006-07-27 16:25:28

Yay
2006-07-27 16:26:19

WTF, I voted five!!!! >.>
2006-07-27 16:29:46

superbe
2006-07-27 16:29:58

Creative Commons would not make it any harder for eBaum's to steal things, since YTMNDs are copyrighted anyway. Also, it's copyright, not copywrite.
2006-07-27 16:30:30

Awesome we can finally make it so they cant steal
2006-07-27 16:31:39

"They are creating a world where you have to copyright your sh*t or else they can take it free of charge"... eh... It's always been like that. So actually they're not doing anything illegal if it's not copyrighted. Also, you can't just put a little sign for it to actually be copyrighted. It doesn't work that way. Sorry.
2006-07-27 16:33:05

The content in YTMNDs are not copyrighted, just the logo and trademark. Creative commons makes it so if ebaums wishes to use your work he must give you credit.
2006-07-27 16:34:14

It's too bad most of this is hypocritical as most ytmnd users think that writing "google + internetz" as citations is actually giving credit. Google is a search engine you dumbasses.
2006-07-27 16:35:35

when you create a work it's automatically protected by full copyright...how's CC gonna apply to all the copywritten stuff that's used in full or part of 99.99% of YTMNDs?
2006-07-27 16:36:39

CC website says otherwise: http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses/comics1
2006-07-27 16:38:51

nice song, tried to use it in a ytmnd but wouldn't work
2006-07-27 16:39:00

you fail, please try again ^_^
2006-07-27 16:43:10

how the hell are you going to license a YTMND with the The Who?
2006-07-27 16:44:04

thanks. used it on a game im making in case eric decides to have a freeware section.
2006-07-27 16:45:17

* -the, because I seriously doubt The Who licensed their music under "Share Alike" -
2006-07-27 16:45:30

haha...wont get fooled again...but seriously, 5'd for helpfulness!
2006-07-27 16:45:35

It's too bad most of this is hypocritical as most ytmnd users think that writing "google + internetz" as citations is actually giving credit. Google is a search engine you dumbasses.
2006-07-27 16:46:22

Inaccurate. All work is copyrighted when you create it. Stop upvoting this NARVs
2006-07-27 16:48:55

^^ Stop calling people narvs. It makes you look stupid.
2006-07-27 16:53:57

creative commons isnt going to even slow down ebaum
2006-07-27 16:55:33

As soon as your work is uploaded to the internet, it's copyrighted automatically whether you have a notice or not. So eBaum IS breaking the law with the telemarketer file.
2006-07-27 16:55:37

YOU ALL SHOULD DO THIS
2006-07-27 16:55:58

Children, please. 1) As has been said, if you make it, it's copyrighted. 2) While YTMNDers are generally using other people's clips or images with minor edits, considering the presentation, much of it falls into fair use. Not all of it, however. Look it up.
2006-07-27 16:56:12

Copyright information + illegal MP3 = you're a f*cking genius...
2006-07-27 16:56:14

2006-07-27 17:02:27

OMG You beat me to it.
2006-07-27 17:03:14

I believe in you.
2006-07-27 17:11:42

Or just make a background message so if you hit alt-a it say eBaum is a theif, and put it in the middle of the picture...
2006-07-27 17:12:09

So...This is an Ad?
2006-07-27 17:14:24

What other people have already commented but I'll reiterate cuz hey, whatever: ALL works are automatically copyrighted upon creation. Ebaums gets away with it because the courts don't care.
2006-07-27 17:15:09

Choose**
2006-07-27 17:18:25

So long as you NEVER check the spelling of anything, all will be well.
2006-07-27 17:22:33

it's good quit downvoting f*gs
2006-07-27 17:28:00

In reply to some of the comments/questions: 1. I gave credit for the song to The Who 2. This YTMND does not have a CC license applied to it as CC belongs to CC and the song belongs to The Who 3. I am not affiliated with CC so this is not an advertisement
2006-07-27 17:29:57

Everything posted on the internet is copyrighted, this won't help at all. I won't downvote you but that's a sh*tty idea.
2006-07-27 17:31:05

so basically if you create the image from scratch AND the audio from scratch this can apply...I'm not voting because this doesn't apply to almost everyone, but for the truly original, high rated sites this might help...
2006-07-27 17:32:22

This is an ad...he needs to PROVE it's enforceable...
2006-07-27 17:32:38

you see that's the problem at eBaums...they have the entry form where anybody can claim they made the media even if they didn't...a registry with the CC would clear everything up quickly
2006-07-27 17:35:18

the who ftw
2006-07-27 17:37:28

spelling errors go back and try again
2006-07-27 17:44:59

Attribution Non-commercial (by-nc)
2006-07-27 17:46:39

I would gladly have my work stolen. I would then sue, as I am not 15, and I would win. but good to let folks know what creative commons is.
2006-07-27 17:55:54

we won't get fooled again... but we're not getting fooled in the first place coz eBaums are idiots!!!!
2006-07-27 18:01:00

The usual 4, but the grammar/spelling/syntax is horrible. I know this is the internet, but if you want to look professional, which I assume you do, please clean it up a bit.
2006-07-27 18:09:09

5'd for good copyright licenses
2006-07-27 18:22:15

you do know that this would hurt this site as well?
2006-07-27 18:37:20

IANAL, but here, knock yourselves out: http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap4.html#408
2006-07-27 18:40:15

Nice.

2006-07-27 18:52:22

Great idea, iffy grammar. 4!
2006-07-27 19:00:22

yes. creative commons ftw.
2006-07-27 19:07:37

If your YTMND consists largely of a paragraph you want us to read, at least ensure that the grammar remains at a level beyond that of a second-grader
2006-07-27 19:09:58

Lol, YTMNCondom.
2006-07-27 19:10:26

2006-07-27 19:12:49

WHY is this being downvoted? Everyone should be doing this if they made something.
2006-07-27 19:12:51

when lawrence lessig was explaining the idea of teenaged "content creators" on the internet, he referenced "anime music videos" as an example. i always saw YTMND as the perfect example. i wonder if he's aware of YTMND at all?
2006-07-27 19:17:30

sorry, nice try though.
2006-07-27 19:22:03

You're an idiot. All intellectual property is copywrited. You do not need a little mark to copywrite your material. Fail.
2006-07-27 19:22:46

the balogna is in the nest, the pastrami is recyclable.

5'd. Lets put a Creative commons on Happy Cat and take it away from those damn myspace people.
2006-07-27 20:13:01

+5 for appropriate Song
2006-07-27 20:17:34

This an amazing idea.
2006-07-27 20:22:18

In the united states, all work is copyrighted the instant you create it. That hasn't stopped ebaum. Placing your copyrighted work under a creative commens license imho may only encourage him.
2006-07-27 20:23:57

Hey guys. I actually have a creative commons on my artwork and writing, and so far it's working for me. If I show a host my license, then the person who did not credit me (the atribution) will have a much greater chance of their account being removed. Please note that creative commons is NOT a copyright. It is a license. It's basically a "This is what you can do with my crap. Disobey and I am allowed to get pissy and/or sue." If you have any other questions, just ask me.
2006-07-27 20:25:47

This YTMND is being downvoted because it is promoting an inaccurate view of how copyright works. http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/text/copyright Go there for information as to how it REALLY works!
2006-07-27 20:30:19

http://www.whatiscopyright.org/ I use the system on that site, and I have a creative commons. Works for me.
2006-07-27 20:31:04

Don't get me wrong though, I'm all for Creative Commons licenses. Copyleft, FTW! But lets not get the two confused.
2006-07-27 20:33:24

I agree, but I am saying *I* know the difference. Which is why I am saying "ask me questions". I am not a lawyer, but I have read a lot into copyright and licenses to make sure my own work isn't f*cked with and stolen.
2006-07-27 20:34:05

i LOVE the who
2006-07-27 20:34:36

wouldn't it be easier to just bomb eric bauman's house?
2006-07-27 20:45:07

EBAUMSWORLD MUST DIE!

2006-07-27 20:48:04

5'd only for all the downvotes.
2006-07-27 20:55:35

Like this will stop him.
2006-07-27 21:04:40

Actually, just to note, anything you create is by international convention considered to have a common law copyright. The general difficulty in such a thing is proving the date in which the item was created, which is usually most easily done by sending yourself a sealed envolope so you have the postmark as proof in case you bring it to court. Creative Commons merely seeks to more accurately spell out the terms in a more concrete fashion. More intimidating to a would be theif.
2006-07-27 21:05:16

no
2006-07-27 21:11:49

let the revolution begin
2006-07-27 21:24:02

I'm pretty neutral on this subject.
2006-07-27 21:27:23

CC is not copyright, so no I am not confused how copyright works. CC means they CAN use it but they have to credit to you for creating it. Things are not automatically copyrighted in legal terms as soon as you make it. Copyright is where you register that the item actually belongs to you therefore people need your permission to reuse it or else they are punishable by law. Hope that clears up the confusion of what CC is and what copyright is for you CitrusFreak1, idownvotethieves, and others.
2006-07-27 22:08:52

-1 for not spelling copright correctly
2006-07-27 22:24:24

lol @ all the google lawyers.
2006-07-27 22:24:38

Uh. I suggest the site creator familiarize himself with the Berne Convention. Creative works are copyright the creator the instant they're brought into being. Creative Commons is a _particular license_. You may as well replace "Creative Commons" with "GNU Free Document License" -- it'd be every bit as nonsensical. Reserving vote until later.
2006-07-27 22:30:57

gay
2006-07-27 23:08:25

justice!
2006-07-28 18:20:13

LOL @ creative commons
2006-07-28 18:24:03

Also darkhooded, you are wrong about copyright. See SqueeAndSp.
2006-08-02 15:35:39

Copyright is acquired automatically. Read up on the Berne Convention. Getting a creative commons license will not make this any more or less enforcable, so this YTMND is basically worthless. 1
2006-08-02 15:37:19

In fact, just read this: http://www.bitlaw.com/copyright/index.html
2006-08-02 15:38:22

Squee and Spleen beat me to the punch.
2006-08-05 10:23:11

wont stop anything, pretty useless really.
2006-08-08 04:59:54

+1 for idealism, -4 for spelling
2006-08-09 00:45:35

This won't make a difference. Ebaumsworld lies about whether or not someone gave them permission to use something, or failing that they just say "oh, some anonymous person gave it to us without crediting anyone." Unless you have the money, patience, and inclination to sue ebaumsworld over it, it doesn't matter how much copyright protection you put on your stuff, he'll steal it if he wants to.
2006-08-13 09:16:34

The copyright law discussion is amusing... but I'm still sitting on the fence with the whole debate.
2006-08-21 23:02:53

Creative Commons will actually make it less enforcible than a good old fashioned copyright.
2006-08-22 02:37:02

hold ctrl and push on the number pad 0 1 6 9 and you get this thing called COPYRIGHT ©
2006-08-25 01:56:47

yes. but you ruined a good song with bad quality sound.

2006-09-13 19:35:39

2006-09-18 23:28:44

5 for CC.
2006-09-21 11:31:09

Look up copywrite laws and be amazed as to how wrong you are
2006-11-20 00:25:15

"They are creating a world where you have to copyright your sh*t or else they can take it free of charge" Bullsh*t. A peice of work is copyrighted the moment of its insception. You don't fill out f*ggy forms or brand the peice with a meticulously designed logo for it to be copyright.
