okay. i have something to say now - i hate gimmick downvoters, i will snarkily reply to downvoter comments i find moronic, BUT, your site series on this overly vilifies downvoting in general, as if not finding something funny is a crime. its not. the reason supposedly 'smarter' ytmnders rarely openly downvote, if at all, is merely to prevent revenge.

in the days where you could blind downvote, this was especially true because the wrong comment to the wrong person meant all your sites getting 1'd. and how many people here who hate downvoters THEMSELVES revenge downvote the people you listed? listen, I don't like Adverb much at all, but the 'eye for an eye' treatment back at him truly undermines your case, which is why so many people think of it as whining.

as for me? i probably downvote (even openly) now more than ever. why? well, i've been around a long while - i see stolen gifs, more importantly, stolen EDITED gifs which take time, prosper. I generally 1 ytmnds of screenshots of 'funny news stories' and of gifs that have been posted on ytmnd 1000 times already. and occasionally yes, I'll downvote something that took more effort than that. *(ctd)

It's true. I don't revenge others, but I made this to show what stupid reasons downvoters comment about. It's very annoying, and they really have no ideal reason.

I'm anti-gimmick downvoting, I'm anti-people only voting 1 or 5 and not using middle votes ever, but I'm not flat out anti-downvoter, I just encourge downvoters either be more open, or if they're going to trash something, be a lil more eloquent. that's it.

I don't mind downvoting, I just hate the occasional downvoter who says something he really has no idea about, or is some immature comment like "youre a f*g" or so.

to me, there is no downvoting and upvoting, just bad and good sites. this one just happens to fall under the former - put some effort into your next site and in the meantime, get the sand out of your vagina.

It's really funny that Walrusman only upvotes Digimon sites. Also, if you give these people attn, they will just keep downvoting because they are getting a reaction.

Reason: It takes no talent. Plus the slideshows are so slow that you usually have to download the gif and view each frame in order to see whats in them.

I'm no downvoter, but realise that slide shows are crap and I only downvote things that are boring or crappy (slideshows are both).

More like an eye for 100 eyes, as was the case for most evengers. Let's face it, 99% of YTMNDs are total crap, but I'm seeing better sites thanks to the new dynamic up and coming. If I do downvote a site, I try to give a reason for doing so, unless it's not even worth my time.
