first time anyone else other than those in my family have seen them. He ran an underground photo lab in his tent and was basically the guy you went to when you needed anything. His irish temper was notorious and he spent a lot of time in the brig for punching out officers.
2006-07-12 19:43:30

Interesting, you should post information along with the pictures.
2006-07-12 19:45:10

Well, know what i mean, more info.
2006-07-12 19:47:27

amazing images, btw.
2006-07-12 19:49:00

I plan on posting info about the pictures in each of the ytmnds. These photos were taken on Tinian Island in the South Pacific.
2006-07-12 19:49:39

Fived for The GREATEST Generation.
2006-07-12 19:50:49

I care a lot more about the Eastern European front where 20,000,000 of my people died.
2006-07-12 19:53:14

5 because andriy is a ch0de and because its original
2006-07-12 19:55:50

Indeed they are, otter, if anything, this is even more reason to hate emo’s. They sit and cry thinking they are in hell, when you get images like these; it shows emo’s need a massive reality and perspective check.
2006-07-12 19:58:47

that was hilarious!
2006-07-12 20:01:08

Powerfull images. And @ Andriy, it's a shame you only care for people serving in the Eastern European front. In the end, no matter the race or place of origin somebody is from, it's still a human death and should be treated equally.
2006-07-12 20:08:53

The skipping music is awfterribul, make it loopify betters.
2006-07-12 20:10:04

Oh and didn't you guys go to highschool?! Only 6,000,000 people died in WW2. They were all Jewish, and they freed themselves from the concentration camps. You know nothing.
2006-07-12 20:12:20

dont forget guam and saipan >_>

Race War = Good. Brother's war = Bad.
2006-07-12 20:21:17

needs more story behind it. al i know is ww2 in the pacific
2006-07-12 20:25:30

You should post a little background info inside the YTMND because, honestly, I didn't even know what they were photos of until I went to Wikipedia.
2006-07-12 20:28:10

Think I fixed the loop? IE users; lemme know. As far as info goes, what info I have on the pictures is posted in the comments or the description. Beyond that your guess is as good as mine as to who the guys are, what each picture is specificly of, etc.
2006-07-12 20:33:32

Fix loop please - or make the music longer.
2006-07-12 20:35:14

phailing
2006-07-12 20:37:14

hmm these pictures look almost as real as a video game
2006-07-12 20:40:12

You should really put some information behind the island. Most people only know about the European theatre.
2006-07-12 20:47:07

Good site and it's always nice to see 1st person history. But slightly off-topic, is it just me or does the piano background part sound like music out of FF7?
2006-07-12 20:52:48

Thats a pretty kickass ytmnd. I'm a firm believer that ytmnd can teach the masses.
2006-07-12 20:54:30

LOL, CASUALTIES!
2006-07-12 21:12:11

Needs longer audio.
2006-07-12 21:19:50

some of the pictures are really beuatifull in an awfull way.
2006-07-12 21:22:02

God, such idiots, it says not to watch if you're not interested, and they watch, and downvote. Disgusting. Any way, fantastic work.
2006-07-12 21:23:28

it's good.

People focus a lot on the European theater, but the Pacific was no less important. Those are quite the photos. As for members of 'your people' dying from Axis tyrrany, well, the Japs slaughtered 10,000,000 of my Chinese 'brothers,' I lost over 400,000 Italian 'brothers,' 500,000 French, 400,000 British, and 7,000,000 Germans. Add those to the 400,000 Americans that died, well, whatever. It doesn't matter what nationality they are, all that matters is that they're human.
2006-07-12 21:33:45

"Powerfull images. And @ Andriy, it's a shame you only care for people serving in the Eastern European front. In the end, no matter the race or place of origin somebody is from, it's still a human death and should be treated equally." Disguting what humanity loves to do to itself. But it's human nature.
2006-07-12 21:35:00

I'm thinking of putting my grandfathers photoalbum on ytmnd too, might be interesting. Or not.
2006-07-12 21:35:20

*disgusting (typo and forgot stars)
2006-07-12 21:40:42

Grooblle these aren't from my grandfather, they're from someone that randomly felt like posting them on fark in a comment thread. As others noted alot of times the pacific theater is often stuck in the shadow of the european theater. I made these ytmnds to change that, if only a little.
2006-07-12 21:47:33

A great compilation.
2006-07-12 21:49:54

Hmm....
2006-07-12 21:52:12

I hate non-humor sites. Save it for anything but YTMND.
2006-07-12 21:54:10

It was one'd till i saw your description
2006-07-12 21:57:19

OH sh*t, then one'd again when I saw this "Grooblle these aren't from my grandfather" nevermind then, what's the point, it's not interesting, pertinent, or educational at all.
2006-07-12 21:58:10

4 because the first time napalm was used in warfare.
2006-07-12 22:02:03

Tinian Island also happened to be the launch point for the Enola Gay, the plane which dropped the two atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
2006-07-12 22:05:52

Laugh. That 5 was redundant. It says clearly as day "from Deveyn on fark.com" in the description. If it was from my grandfather it would just say that. But yea thanks for the 1.
2006-07-12 22:11:30

I didn't think this was funny. Also, I failed to see how it was interesting... perhaps some colour and a picture of Cosby. And some lively Music.
2006-07-12 22:16:44

It's not supposed to be funny...
2006-07-12 22:16:47

really good, but i was expecting nedm to pop up haha.
2006-07-12 22:17:59

2006-07-12 22:27:59

WAR, It's FANTASTIC.
2006-07-12 22:31:43

It is really cool that your Grandfather took these by and by.
2006-07-12 22:55:09

"Oh and didn't you guys go to highschool?! Only 6,000,000 people died in WW2. They were all Jewish, and they freed themselves from the concentration camps. You know nothing." - HEY!!!! HOMOSEXUALS died in the camps also. They worked together with the Jews to end the war. Jeez, go back to middle school, noob.
2006-07-12 22:59:38

didn't find it that great but had to 5 it because my grandpa was stationed on Tinian as a fighting Seebee. He actually watched to Enola Gay take off and return.
2006-07-12 23:00:40

2006-07-12 23:02:09

omg sorry my voting doesn't work will change them as soon as possible
2006-07-12 23:16:09

One island the Japs had good reason to fight to the death for: Tinian is where the B-29s that nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki took off from.
2006-07-12 23:19:39

Throw in some Naruto music, then we'll talk.
2006-07-12 23:31:56

If you want to know more about Tinian, the Enola Gay, and the man that piloted her (General Paul Tibbets), I suggest the book "Duty" by Bob Greene.
2006-07-12 23:56:45

This sucks, but it's still kind of cool
2006-07-13 00:15:10

wow, more info would be nice but, these are great. thank you for sharing these.
2006-07-13 00:30:50

the balogna is in the nest, the pastrami is recyclable.
2006-07-13 00:44:04

Hey this was kinda interesting, but the repeating loop that skiped got on my nerves just a little.
2006-07-13 01:27:59

NOT FUNNY.

Your grandfather was a hero just like mine and all of those who have loyally fought to defend our country. May he rest in peace.
