I 5 it for making interesting points, but I don't think it's exactly bad that it basis it's mythology on mormonism, I mean it may be a crazy religion, but it's not evil like scientology. Lot's of movies base their mythology on religious doctrines, like Star Wars, The Matrix, and Lord of the Rings.
2006-07-05 14:37:06

meh. Well known fact that the producer was mormon. Not very funny. Try something better next time.
2006-07-05 14:37:19

The music hurts my ears.
2006-07-05 14:41:57

Cool, but -1 for the extreeeemely annoying jagged delay drum beat in the background.
2006-07-05 14:43:04

its more fun to make fun of scientology. cause scientology sucks.
2006-07-05 14:48:01

Frak you.
2006-07-05 14:54:01

3'd. Not really keeping up with the unfunny fad. but since I am LDS, i liked the tid-bit of info about this series. and good job not putting anything negitive about moromons in there. (bonus point)
2006-07-05 14:55:25

OMG SECRET MORMON BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!
2006-07-05 15:00:01

Five for finally an un-funny truth with different music.
2006-07-05 15:03:19

1 for the idea- so many things come from religious roots, its not even funny. 1 for the horrible effort in the imaging. Wow, its not spraypaint he used, its frame effects in PS. Geesh... also, another 1 for all the effort you put into it, giving it a 3. Good Day.
2006-07-05 15:05:17

A fascinating discovery indeed.
2006-07-05 15:09:39

:o
2006-07-05 15:09:55

1'd for having nothing to do with the new Battlestar Galactica. Who the frak still cares about the old show?
2006-07-05 15:13:47

Old show is lame. New Show is AWESOME.
2006-07-05 15:15:59

f*ck star wars
2006-07-05 15:18:07

Orson Scott Card didn't have a hand in BG, did he?
2006-07-05 15:25:43

This has nothing to do with the new Battlestar Galactica. noob -4
2006-07-05 15:28:13

5/5 for Half-Life 2 music and for finally pointing out that Battlestar Galactica is just a mormon television show.
2006-07-05 15:29:13

ha, f*ck mormons. Out of all religions, theirs has to be the gayest, worst POS religion out there.
2006-07-05 15:31:38

Stargate > Battlestar Galactica (both of them)
2006-07-05 15:33:30

Mormons are pretty nice though.
2006-07-05 15:35:30

I dont give nine sh*ts about that show, nor the content of your slide show. 3 for the music.
2006-07-05 15:36:22

Good effort. But was there really anyone out there who DIDN'T already know that B.G. was based on Mormon myth? It makes a great sci-fi story, though not such a good religion.
2006-07-05 15:38:43

I learned something today. THANKS YTMND!!!
2006-07-05 15:40:01

I'm not gonna stop watching such an awesome show because it resembles the Mormon religion. (Though to be fair, I think its called the Quorum of Twelve as well in BSG...)
2006-07-05 15:45:57

For LDS Battlestar fans this is really old news, but its nice to see that the copying of religious mythology come from a different source for a change.
2006-07-05 23:46:57

meh, don't care
2006-07-11 23:27:34

you spelled coming wrong. battlestar also somewhat mirrors the events of 9-11
2006-07-12 03:54:57

Informative. The New show kicks the crap out of the old show!
2006-07-13 18:04:48

yeah this isn't a surprise, i thought most galactica fans knew glen larson was mormon.
2006-07-14 20:39:32

Mormon, eh? Well, when Starbuck gets here, she'll have to convert when we get married. But I'm not sure if I want to raise the kids Jewish...
2006-07-14 20:51:07

Lol, the new show is nothing like the old show. Looks like someone just took the new galactica and the new vipers, threw it on the site, and assumed it is the same as the old show without seeing a single episode. It's unfortunate I can't rate negative numbers.
2006-07-16 19:30:46

5 for battlestar
2006-07-26 00:27:02

the new show is different
2006-08-14 19:33:31

Who would have thought the show would have mormon infulences when the Glen Larson is in fact..wait for it..a Mormon. Mormon sounds a lot like...MORON I give 5 for the YTMND but -2 becasue current galactica owns
2006-08-29 15:48:22

3 for effort, 6 for kool music, -1 cause you fail at life, and 5 because battlestar galactica is an alright show
2006-08-31 17:32:59

NOOOOO SAY IT AINT SO
2006-09-04 07:42:53

1'd for quotes from 70s Battlestar Galactica. You used images from the modern BSG series. They're hardly related at all. Ass.
2006-10-02 22:19:51

Ditto upon Myrkle. Don't use images from the new BSG and then talk about the old one. (That said, this was really interesting. However, why should I stop watching Galactica because it was written by Mormons? Hell, they almost invalidate themselves by making their religion sound like Battlestar Galactica. And yes, I know they're technically making BSG sound like their religion, but if the show is better-known than the religion's doctrines, the chicken will precede the .... I want ice cream.
2006-10-02 22:20:23

... And here's my other parenthesis. )
2006-10-11 03:08:57

Why is this trivia bad? I don't think religious allusions count as subliminal. What makes manifest destiny and colonization (Star Trek) or Taoist Christianity (Star Wars) any better?
2006-10-12 14:24:27

Mormons are awesome! And it makes one fantastic religion btw.
2006-10-12 14:34:00

Wait a minute... you're worried about false doctrine and then you ask people to stick to Trek and SW? Now, I love Trek, but it is' filled to the brim' with athiest, secular-progressive dog crap. And Lucas? Just look at "the force" and tell me what THAT represents. The bottom line is that all shows will reflect the beliefs of their creator. It doesn't amount to dogma. It's the human condition.
2006-10-20 22:17:56

1 for copying everything here from wikipedia
2006-10-23 13:59:39

Nice comparisons, flawed conclusion. It's not unusual for any sort of storytelling medium to carry the lessons and values of it's creator(s) and influence(s). If you're going for some sort of profouned revolutionary realization, you failed miserably. If you wish to imply that it's going to brainwash us by watching it or that we shouldn't watch it just because it has mormon undertones, well you're just paranoid. Maybe you should just analyze the overall "moral" of the series and someone might care.
2006-11-15 00:51:52

Umm, everything you said applies to the OLD Battlestar Galactica. War of the Gods isn't even an episode in the new series. And yeah, like the other guy said, everyone knew the creators of the original series were Mormons. That said, the new series has gone in an ENTIRELY different direction.
2006-11-17 09:26:01

So say we all. Too bad you didn't use the new series, the Quorum of 12 is actually IN that one. Anyway, Battlestar rules.
2006-11-26 14:56:54

....and you are saying that Star Wars doesn't allude to Buddhist & Hindu religious beliefs..... 1/5 And it's all about NEW (2003-present) Battlestar anyway
2006-12-03 14:57:51

Frack you *ssh*le. Just because you THINK BSG is filled with Mormon doctrines DOES NOT mean it is not a good show. And I've watched all the episodes. I don't feel like converting to Mormonism. *ssh*le.
2006-12-04 10:04:08

Well, f*ck you, your not the funny police.
2007-01-07 19:31:33

doesnt bother me. how many goddamn movies and TV shows have basically been Christ figure stuff. if people are led to that religion because of it thats their problem.
2007-01-08 19:28:22

You've just discovered this? I thought it was well known that the original Battlestar Galactica was written by Mormons. It was even nicknamed Mormons in Space. Gee, I hope you don't find out that Orson Scott Card is Mormon, also and his Homecoming series is loosely based on the Book of Mormon.
2007-01-08 19:58:02

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as a prick.
2007-02-26 22:01:54

they incorporate parts of every religion, it's not a 'mormon' show
2007-03-21 03:50:25

Allegory, religious or mythological- however you want to call it- is insanely common. So you found out what any dumbass who went to LDS Sunday school knows about BSG? WOW, NOTHIN' GETS BY YOU! (except it was never hidden to begin with)
2007-11-25 02:07:30

The number 12 has been common in nearly all religions, like the 12 trides of Israel (or whoever the f*ck) in Judiasm and the 12 disciples of Jesus during the last supper. I'm sure I can find other related sh*t to the other sh*t but I don't care that much.
2008-04-20 08:38:41

this is true, and it isn't funny, but why are you telling us this? Glen Larson was a Mormon, and used Mormon theology along with the basic premise behind "Chariots of the Gods" to flesh out his universe. There's nothing sinister(or interesting) about this.
