Isn't there some kind of metal lining in those bags?
2006-07-03 22:54:00

yeah
2006-07-03 22:54:39

my wife's gonna be pissed about what I do to the microwave.
2006-07-03 22:56:06

This YTMND will usher in a new age of man.
2006-07-03 22:57:53

The effort that went into this YTMND alone is worth a 5. Also, try putting CDs in the microwave. Use blanks or AOL CDs. They put on quite a light show for about 3 seconds.
2006-07-03 22:57:58

just watch somebody burn their house down doing this
2006-07-03 22:58:04

that's good.
2006-07-03 22:59:14

Interesting.
2006-07-03 22:59:28

hmmm...
2006-07-03 22:59:51

I can't wait till your microwave explodes and half of the world goes with it! =-o
2006-07-03 23:03:22

o rly? thats not very nice of you to say such things! but seriously, its pretty harmless. there was an episode of mythbusters on discovery channel that debonked the whole "your microwave will explode if you put metal in it!" urband legend.
+1
2006-07-03 23:04:26

i'm glad i'm not payign you college expences.
2006-07-03 23:06:13

is that...safe?
2006-07-03 23:08:29

They shrink better in the oven and I learned of this in 3rd grade.
2006-07-03 23:08:53

wow.. so i see
2006-07-03 23:09:08

more like grade school
2006-07-03 23:09:39

try microwaving cd's too
2006-07-03 23:15:06

Yeah, I made a keychain out of a skittles packed it 6th grade. It's a better idea to use an oven.
2006-07-03 23:18:41

they're like shrinky dinks
2006-07-03 23:19:01

first 3-4 frames are pointless
2006-07-03 23:19:09

lol shrinky-dinks. but what a god awful song.
2006-07-03 23:20:06

Man Law
2006-07-03 23:20:16

Truly fantastic. I love you.
2006-07-03 23:21:28

you forgot to mention the part where you inhale the noxious chemicals and imagine that this would make a winning ytmnd, lol
2006-07-03 23:23:18

yesssssss!!!! i just tried it...it totally works!
2006-07-03 23:26:04

It won't blow up, but I think the Mythbusters said something about the magnetron's life being shortened if you pull crap like this. No explosions--just excessive wear from misuse. 5 for yay.
2006-07-03 23:27:01

Excellent find sir. If I may suggest, place a small glass of water in the microwave along with the snack bag to prevent damage to the microwave oven. CDs are even more amazing and make neat fractal patterns.
2006-07-03 23:29:15

yea i saw that episode of mythbusters, i no longer fear my microwave. i used to go into coniptions if i accidentally left a spoon in there or something. good ytmnd
2006-07-03 23:30:03

um, why would you want do this in the first place?
2006-07-03 23:30:05

Hah, it worked. Wonder how long before someone f*cks up and posts "IT CAUGHT ON FIRE YOU DICK"
2006-07-03 23:30:32

not coniptions, convulsions silly me
2006-07-03 23:32:01

IT CAUGHT ON FIRE YOU DICK
2006-07-03 23:33:59

5'd FOR f*ckING UTZ CHIPS
2006-07-03 23:34:33

Would this work for full size chip bags?
2006-07-03 23:35:53

IT CAUGHT ON FIRE YOU DICK
2006-07-03 23:36:33

i haven't tried it on a full bag.. i've tried it on one of those "grab bags," the medium-size lays. it still works, but of course, it requires more time to shrink to smallest size. i can't fit a large bag into my microwave...
2006-07-03 23:41:03

lol????
2006-07-03 23:41:31

Mine went 'kapoof' and frizzled up. It smelled all plasticy and melty. Is it supposed to spark so much when you do it?
2006-07-03 23:41:33

you seriously need to goto class
2006-07-03 23:43:44

yup! its supposed to spark and pop.. i cant explain to you exactly whats going on, but something with the foil making it really hot and then it shrinks. it does produce an odor that may, in fact, be a health hazard... but i'm fine, and i've been doing it for months now!
2006-07-03 23:44:48

I dare you to do 8 minutes.
2006-07-03 23:45:00

Awesome music selection, awesome animation, and finally, 5 for Stephanie. lolped
2006-07-03 23:45:16

but if you're serious about doing it the right way, try it out a couple times to find the best time for your microwave; and best size/time ratio to make it as small as possible before melting into goo.
2006-07-03 23:46:18

I've known this for a while but the music and taping methods earn this my 5.
2006-07-03 23:46:48

Your college education is finally paying off!
+1
2006-07-03 23:47:36

2006-07-03 23:57:19

2006-07-04 00:02:02

Oh. Awesome.
2006-07-04 00:04:46

Lol I wanna try that ,but then again....
2006-07-04 00:07:26

try next with knives and forks :) I hear they take a whole minute to shrink
2006-07-04 00:07:42

1'd because this is NOT safe, bags of chips DO HAVE metal linins, THUS making explosions while in the microwave.. [Lesson: Do NOT put metal objects in microwave]
2006-07-04 00:12:15

sweet
2006-07-04 00:16:12

not really useful, but informative. And it was pleasant to watch, not to mention the small gif size couldnt be beat, plus good music
2006-07-04 00:16:23

That is awesome!
2006-07-04 00:18:50

that's f*ckin AWEsome
2006-07-04 00:22:17

"Higher" education. lol
2006-07-04 00:22:36

you can do the same thing with any heat source. Throw it into a campfire and see what it does.
2006-07-04 00:24:21

if you throw it in a fire, i doubt you'll get it out looking as nice as you can via microwave. also, it only takes a few seconds this way - how long does it take for you oven people to shrink stuff? :)
2006-07-04 00:26:27

fine then use charcoal and put it on the grill. flames will blacken it yes. Also, for your next experiment try a 9 volt battery and lean down in front of the door to watch and see all the cool action.
2006-07-04 00:26:37

You should have learned to put the moves on drunk sluts instead :(
2006-07-04 00:26:49

2006-07-04 00:35:11

Education is a wonderful thing
2006-07-04 00:35:20

you are gonna ruin your microwave.
2006-07-04 00:39:08

The most important thing that I learned is that boys have a penis and girls have a vagina.
2006-07-04 00:41:03

One word: awesome. 5'd for the future of mankind.
2006-07-04 00:41:03

rofl
2006-07-04 00:41:24

2006-07-04 00:42:56

2006-07-04 00:45:07

OMFG WTF I TRIED DOING THIS AND MY MICROWAVE CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN! NOW I'M HOMELESS... WTF!!!
2006-07-04 00:46:07

informative
2006-07-04 00:46:10

if you're wondering how I typed that or this, I'm at a friend's house
2006-07-04 00:50:13

this made me lol
2006-07-04 00:55:31

There are three unstoppable things in this ytmnd. Hasty chip dump and brush, lol baking, and the fact that it encourages people to perform a relatively dangerous act.
2006-07-04 00:57:24

This is the most amazing thing I've learned ever now!
2006-07-04 01:00:18

I learned that when I was in 8th grade and got over it about a month later, let's stop lying about our ages shall we
2006-07-04 01:00:37

Funny show. Don't think I want to risk ruining my microwave to try it though.
2006-07-04 01:00:43

cute? no. stupid? yes. +2 just for effort.
2006-07-04 01:03:29

The reason bags shrink in microwaves has nothing to do with heat, by the way, it's because the waves hit the bag, bounce off from the metal, hit the bag again, etc etc
2006-07-04 01:04:05

Yay, small chip bags. :)
2006-07-04 01:06:08

I love you.
2006-07-04 01:07:55

I laughed, I cried.
2006-07-04 01:09:32

that's actually a pretty good animation. even though the quality sucks.
2006-07-04 01:09:37

"The most important thing that I learned is that boys have a penis and girls have a vagina." HAHAHAHA Impossible
2006-07-04 01:10:09

loooooo
2006-07-04 01:11:35

I like the fact that you spent so much time making this...what is otherwise a pointless demonstration.
2006-07-04 01:12:54

yay for you
2006-07-04 01:16:00

WOW!!!!!11
2006-07-04 01:18:00

i did that with a capri sun drink pouch.....
2006-07-04 01:23:25

don't do this in my f*cking microwave anymore you jackass
2006-07-04 01:26:16

i wonder if its possible to cause the shrinkage to follow a specific texture, ie, the design on the bag.
2006-07-04 01:26:21

You know what else shinks ina microwave really cool? An aerosol can. Really. Set it for about 5 minutes....
2006-07-04 01:27:38

Learn English too please.
2006-07-04 01:29:07

Learned this in grade 2, so 2 stars
2006-07-04 01:29:26

Purely awesome... I love the music and love the animation (although you could use better quality).
2006-07-04 01:31:40

I..love you.
2006-07-04 01:33:54

boring.
2006-07-04 01:34:57

We were doing this in first grade..we also didn't know about saftey back then too.
2006-07-04 01:35:09

UNIVERSE TIER
2006-07-04 01:48:40

I used to do this everyday back in high school. It makes your microwave stink really bad if you do it enough.
2006-07-04 01:58:37

I'm... I'm gonna try this. Also 5'd for the comments alone, the YTMND is in a tier by itself anyway.
2006-07-04 02:06:24

College education, ftw.
2006-07-04 02:06:35

NO ITS NOT SAFE!!! YOU WILL CAUSE ARCS INSIDE YOUR MICROWAVE LOL 5D BEFORE YOU BLOW SOMETHING UP
2006-07-04 02:10:07

2006-07-04 02:10:49

Wow. I definately need to do this in place of fireworks today.
2006-07-04 02:13:20

2006-07-04 02:13:22
