2006-05-31 21:16:06

It's good, except you misspelled "Transcendental"

2006-05-31 21:57:52

"fix loop" It's done that way on purpose to mimic the scrolling background of old cartoons.
2006-05-31 22:04:18

I don't know why I like this so much. But I do. 5'd

It's like pizza and ice cream, the two things aren't any funnier when you combine them. 2'd for effort.
2006-05-31 23:05:19

One day I'm going to make a "Kant Stops the Rock" YTMND.
2006-05-31 23:07:42

LAWL, indians.
2006-05-31 23:09:43

kant is a f*g
2006-05-31 23:17:24

I love being blissfully ignorant to history, thus, not getting this.
2006-05-31 23:18:32

I still don't get it! /wrist
2006-05-31 23:21:38

learn something studying for finals?
2006-05-31 23:26:26

Image does not work correctly
2006-05-31 23:27:24

"I still don't get it! /wrist" The Transcendental Deduction is one of Kant's most important works where he affirms the value of the sensory in relation to reason. The Indian part is in reference to an awful joke made by Kant in "Critique of Judgment" that he propped up as some sort of exemplar of humor.
2006-05-31 23:28:48

Always liked Kant....
2006-05-31 23:29:03

"Image does not work correctly" That's a client side problem, not mine. Fix your computer before down voting me.
2006-05-31 23:31:04

"learn something studying for finals?" - No I studied Kant independent of my philosophy classes. I reason if a philosophy major wont pay me then I might want to at least enrich my mind out of the process.
2006-05-31 23:42:17

kant is a fool
2006-05-31 23:46:33

lol @ academic humor.
2006-05-31 23:47:02

Possibly, but he does make for a good, if not very dry, read.
2006-06-01 00:01:28

iwpoe, GTFO. You're too smart for us YTMNDers :P and +1 for explaining it again to me :D
2006-06-01 00:17:39

you just kant think that way...
2006-06-01 00:22:10

I have another “lol philosophy” one prepared, but not for tonight.
2006-06-01 00:32:49

The most immoral man in history. Try Rand instead.
2006-06-01 00:33:51

forgot to vote. sorry.
2006-06-01 00:37:09

Immanuel Kant? Oh yes he can!
2006-06-01 01:00:17

"Try Rand instead" - Too bad her and "her collective" are piss poor philosophers and haven’t maintained a coherent stance, even in their critiques of others, in 72 years.
2006-06-01 01:08:46

lol, you lack maturity your guardian sux
2006-06-01 01:10:49

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable.
2006-06-01 01:14:06

lulz. You should check out marriedtothesea dot com
2006-06-01 01:14:07

Rand rules
2006-06-01 01:16:00

2 for making me remember history... this blows..
2006-06-01 01:19:33

"You should check out marriedtothesea dot com" - Why thank you; it's actually funnier than I expected from a random YTMND comment.
2006-06-01 01:21:27

+5 for kant
2006-06-01 01:22:43

Yeah, but does he run Linux?
2006-06-01 01:24:47

I kept laughing for no reason.
2006-06-01 01:28:36

5'd only and purely for bringing some Kant into things
2006-06-01 01:29:03

"Yeah, but does he run Linux?" - Arudius, and only if it it is compatable with The Refutation of Idealism.
2006-06-01 01:36:54

Nope, checked it. The looping backround image is a literal pain for my eyes since the boundaries are so bold. If you could make the backround image blend better, I'd vote higher.
2006-06-01 01:50:43

"Nope, checked it." - Fixed just for you, sir.
2006-06-01 01:56:05

haha. i love philosophy ytmnds
2006-06-01 02:03:42

Good jorb. I really don't see how knowing Kant through studying for finals or side reading makes a big difference, and I hate it when people browbeat like that.
2006-06-01 02:12:22

I couldn't remember which philosopher had the "Philosoper's Walk" named after them... too bad it wasn't Kant, otherwise this would be fuuny. Cute, though :D
2006-06-01 02:14:34

^Read: very funny. It's funny as is. XD
2006-06-01 02:16:24

5'd for philosophy. The categorical imperative requires no less. It can be universalized as a law applying to all mankind that YTMNDs of such overwhelming brilliance must be 5'd for great justice.
2006-06-01 02:17:42

"I couldn't remember which philosopher" - Rather obscure but after looking it up, the Philosopher's Walk in Kyoto, Japan was named for Nishida Kitaro who used to walk the path to meditate.
2006-06-01 02:20:19

"5'd for philosophy." - Thanks to you, sir, and to the remainder who have complimented me thus far.
2006-06-01 02:22:26

filosophy is a waste of time
2006-06-01 02:27:06

"filosophy[sic] is a waste of time" - As was, apparently, your education.
2006-06-01 02:35:12

Wow good ytmnd, I really am a fan of the categorical imperative which was the main tenet of kants moral theory. it is a good rule to live by, with the exception of the barbaric absolutism that may follow from it.
2006-06-01 02:44:21

""filosophy[sic] is a waste of time" - As was, apparently, your education." Such ownage turns a 3 to a 5 in seconds.
2006-06-01 02:57:54

love the classics
2006-06-01 03:09:15

Kants theory is basically deontological, in that it rests on the notion of duty. The arguement is that we should adhere our lives to a strict sense of duty to the moral law. HEDONIC CALCULUS FTW
2006-06-01 03:16:47

"Kants theory is basically deontological" - This is more or less true of all moral theories except those theories that abandon moral codes all together such as Nietzsche's work. Until a theory so compelling as to force man to follow it is formulated all moral code is a matter of duty.
2006-06-01 03:24:39

I would have rather liked "lol, hegel" or "lol, heidegger" but this is good too
2006-06-01 03:27:59

lol, kant!
2006-06-01 03:32:34

"I would have rather liked 'lol, hegel'" - Though I like Hegel I chose Kant because he's a more famous name to those who may have only taken introductory Philosophy and because I had the "also Indians" reference that would be funny to someone who didn't know a thing about Kant. I should do a “lol Death of Socrates” YTMND some time later.
2006-06-01 03:41:05

lol 1d
2006-06-01 03:47:09

Is the YTMND community so uneducated that we upvote anything remotley intellectual? This isn't funny, creative, or really anything but yet another dumb "lol" site.
2006-06-01 03:57:45

"Is the YTMND community" - You're on a meme website. What did you expect? No repetition? The structure of this domain is constructed entirely for the propagation and creation of repetitive variations on central meme forms which, though important, are, by necessity, rare. If you want “originality” go to deviant art, plenty of "original" crap to look at there.
2006-06-01 03:59:06

^ TRU DAT.
2006-06-01 04:00:16

I hate Kant so much...
2006-06-01 04:08:06

2006-06-01 04:33:01

That is the idea unless the original Ronald McDonald had some sort of inherent quality about his character that screamed "lol, internet".

lol kant
2006-06-01 10:08:45

Kant is full of OCD and lose. He WISHED he was Descartes.
2006-06-01 10:15:50

"He WISHED he was Descartes." - No one wishes they were Descartes. He's a groundwork philosopher long superseded by later philosophers.
2006-06-01 10:16:20

Listen, I read a great deal of philosophy, and even I found this to be mediocre at best. While providing relevant links is certainly helpful, you have to understand that most people won’t take the time to investigate them, except perhaps to confirm that such things actually exist. In addition, it appears you have some insatiable need to respond at length to every meaningless comment and intellectualize the befuddled musings of twelve year olds.
2006-06-01 10:17:23

I realize it likely stems from a genuine desire to educate and enlighten, but it just comes off as pompous and masturbatory. Basically, the site itself is devoid of meaningful content and your attempts at contextualizing the information make it clumsy and ineffective. Creative works are not simply machines by which information is disseminated.
2006-06-01 10:18:37

LMFAO!!!
2006-06-01 10:19:26

Not funny.

2006-06-01 11:58:20

Emanuel Kant was a real pissant
2006-06-01 11:58:56

2006-06-01 11:59:44

Suddenly I had to wonder about the ytmnd user base. not because someone made this, as I know there are random smarties here and there, but that it is in the Top 15, with a rating of 3.63. Maybe max deleted mostly idiots? Nawwww.
2006-06-01 11:59:59

kant was an *sshole, and he was f*cking ignorant.
2006-06-01 12:02:08

lol, kingdom of ends
2006-06-01 12:03:31

no zer0hue, his intention was to be pompus and masturbatory all along. Psuedo-intellectuals and the internets go hand-in-hand, they think obscure references make them smart. It just so happens that I learned about this guy in Psych class, however the name previously escaped me until I recognized a familiar website we used in class to read about him. And now I remember what he did and this ytmnd makes very little sense. So no need to get involved in any spirited discussion with the creator of this site.
2006-06-01 12:06:11

Lol, categorical imperative. Kant rules.
2006-06-01 12:07:18

at least, the ytmnd has little to do with Kant's life's work. Now this site seems hopelessly random if not esoteric.
2006-06-01 12:07:51

also, hansfootball.ytmnd.com
2006-06-01 12:34:39

some people take ytmnd too seriously, lighten up and laugh for once...
2006-06-01 12:36:00

I actually got that. :P
2006-06-01 12:45:15

philosophy ftfw (for the f*cking win)
2006-06-01 12:46:11

"Listen, I read a great deal of philosophy" - Perhaps you're right, at least on the point of comment reply. I had been awake for too long and replying to comments was something to do; I didn't consider audience reception. I apologize if I've insulted anyone. As for the humor of the site itself I found it a humorous enough idea to go forward with and received some initial positive responses when I first tested it. It's clear enough that some find it funny; that is my audience.
2006-06-01 12:49:36

wow, intellectual masturbation. Be careful so you don't get skeeted on!
2006-06-01 12:59:24

"his intention was to be pompus and masturbatory all along" - No, my intention was to better learn gif animation and to pass my time after being awake for over 24 hours. If you wanted to understand it I've provided (and I grant that the method is clumsy) 3 links for that purpose and a brief explanation in a comment. The sites esoteric nature is fully acknowledged and its randomness is inherent to the "lol internet" form.
2006-06-01 13:01:34

In appreciation of zer0hue's critique I'll now limit all further comments to serious and direct questions.
2006-06-01 13:08:30
