Description: I found this one on a 1950 vinyl record called "Everybody Polka". It's definitely the grandpa of the distinctive tetris tune.

Odd, this sounds more like Klezmer than polka.

I don't think this is news to anyone and there's not much to the site other than that...

Sorry mate, wrong info, even the finnish version of the song is earlier than 1950, the original version's creation year 1860, as far as i can remember. And the song is, indeed, russian made, not american, this is just a cover.

So the record is unbreakable? Why don't they make bulletproof vests out of these unbreakable records?

the tetris melody was an old russian folk song if my memory is correct, nice find nonetheless

I was really suprized to find a song from a video game on a 1950's polka record. I mean, seriously. Isn't it amusing for that? Plus, though it is based on an old Russian folk song, recording technology wasn't invented until about 1870. What do you want me

Kalinka is the name of the true song, and has it's origins in Russia. Nice find though.

This is also one of the themes that is used in Borat.

The sad thing is, as the worthwhiles are shuffled that poorly, you just HAVE to downvote sites to see new ones.

God DAMMIT, it's an old Russian folk tune, it's not some old polka song, this song is not an original by any definition of the word.
2007-04-02 20:54:14

Oldest news in the world This was actually a Russian song
