First, they probably just take a sound recorder and stick it near their tv when playing the movie. Second half life 2 preceeded the second movie...im not sure if the tripods were IN the first as ive never seen it...but yah when watching it I was thinking

Just so you all know, the Strider in the game sounds very different from this. This is just with a sound pack that makes the striders similar to their tripod counterparts.

Sorry, War of the Worlds is a >100 year old novel, also: the Vortigaunts look like the "Mor-Tax" aliens from the 1980's WOTW show which was based on the 1953 film. HL did not rip H.G. Wells or the guys from the films and remakes: it was inspired by both of them.

i'll admit, 1899-2004 is a very, very long time, but still, half-life would have blow H.G. Wells' head off.
