| Doom is also 50's rock. 4th lvl of Doom II and one of them in Doom I have that standard 50's rock chord progression, like the 5, 6, 7, 8's song in Kill Bill. | ||||||
| HOLY sh*t. GET BACK TO ME ON THAT. Did they mean to copy DooM? or DooM to copy them? | ||||||
| hahah weelllll technically it isnt Discharge but yeah its one of their songs.
great band | ||||||
| nice | ||||||
| Omfg. It's totally possible, too. I researched, Vulgar Display of Power was released 1992, while Doom 1 itself was released 1993. Not even Doom 2. (yes, I forgot the years, it was long ago). 5. :O | ||||||
| Heh, that's awesome.
I think I accidently did something when I voted for it though. (New at YTMND.)
| Should've made the Doom guy playing a guitar. He's positioned so that you could pull it off with a lame photoshop. | ||||||
| I was thinking the exact same thing. A guitar chop would've been choice!
Don't see that much resemblence between the first two, but I have always noticed the second one.
Four stars. +1 for Metallica
| it was metallica you n00b http://doome1m1metallica.ytmnd.com/ | ||||||
| Please PLEASE go to http://doom.ocremix.org/ and use track 1, Evil Horde - Hangarmageddon. | ||||||
| Actually! I researched it more. The first song is No Remorse, not Master of Puppets. Please fix it with No Remorse. | ||||||
| Damn straight Doom is metal. m/MetallicA and PanterAm/
--Der Metzgermeister | ||||||
| Woah, they do sound alike. | ||||||
| 5 out of 5 for awesome | ||||||
| Daggom 5'd | ||||||
| just 1 thing...
HOW DID YOU TURN A MIDI INTO A MP3!?!?!?
| For those curious, in Doom ][, the stage "Barrels Of Fun" used a copy of Alice in Chains' "Them Bones" for the music. | ||||||
| It's entirely possible that id software actually hired various musical people to do the music for DooM and DooM ][ in that respect. As quite a few tracks in both games resemble real songs. And they did hire NIN to do the soundtrack for Quake, and Sonic Ma | ||||||
| But yeah, this site could really do with the Marine wailing on a guitar. :3 | ||||||
| Maybe they did that "invisible guitar" in nameless marine's hands on purpose. | ||||||
| WHOA | ||||||
| Robert Prince did all the music to Doom and Doom II. In my opinion the similarity is in homage of the rock for the times. For Doom 2, some of the songs became almost complete rips: MAP18 and MAP27= Pantera - This Love; MAP23 = Alice in Chains - Them Bon | ||||||
| gah, comment limit. http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?t=26705 has a list of "rips" in the Doom games (they cite Slayer - Anti-Christ for E1M1). | ||||||
| I always knew the first level sounded like Master Of Puppets. Doom kicks pussy video game in the face, craps in their mouths and wipes with their grandma. | ||||||
| Does Sonic Mayham do any other id games? | ||||||
| As far as I know, Sonic Mayhem only did hte sound tracks for Quakes 2 and 3 | ||||||
| You forgot to mention Rush. | ||||||
| I think No Remorse from Metallica's Kill 'em All sounds more identical to that Doom clip than Master of Puppets does. Also, some say that Slayer's Behind the Crooked Cross sounds like it as well. | ||||||
| are they songs made before or after doom? | ||||||
| nice | ||||||
| that is awesome, Robert Prince made a real good job! | ||||||
| 5 for Doom. | ||||||
| not even metal music | ||||||
| Do you think they meant to do that, those bands? | ||||||
| lol, looks like a guitar... nice | ||||||
| I should've made this, I saw a site that had all the songs from Doom with each Pantera or Metallica version next to them to compare like 2 years ago. It's mostly those two bands. | ||||||
| I liked how a riff from Final DOOM got almost lifted wholesale by Iron Maiden in "Maybe Lightning Strikes Twice" | ||||||
| Yep. Metal sucks. |
-1 | |||||
| yes. yes it is! | ||||||
| DOOM MUSIC GETS 5!
As long as there is no feline immolation.
| Wow this rocks!! this is why Doom kicks *ss XD | ||||||
| Downvoters either dont like Doom, Hate M rated games, or a just pussies that dont like metal and like that Emo music sh*t | ||||||
| Amen ^ | ||||||
| :) | ||||||
| 5 for Doom music. | ||||||
| NEDM | ||||||
| I had forgotten that they used real music for that game. | ||||||
| Old news, read the second paragraph here: http://doom.ocremix.org/ | ||||||
| seriously not even doom music could make this an interesting YTMND.
Yeah, I went there. | ||||||
| neato | ||||||
| ZOINKS!! Not Even Doom Music is metal... | ||||||
| Here's a more complete list of the Doom songs and the songs they're based on:
http://www.doomworld.com/linguica/doomcovers/
| NEDMetal | ||||||
| haha nedm could save metalica!! | ||||||
| The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. | ||||||
| What the other guy said. First song is No Remorse. -1 for not knowing that. | ||||||
| metallica and pantera ftw | ||||||
| Here's a much better version:
http://doomguitar.ytmnd.com/
| 5 | ||||||
| I liked this site so much that I made my own version of the idea. http://doomwentmetal.ytmnd.com/. Look close at the demon's hands' | ||||||
| Obey your master! | ||||||
| A collective comparison of all the songs Bobby Prince apparently ripped off (info in ID3v2 tag): http://media.putfile.com/Doom-Music---Bobby-Prince-Is-a-Filthy-Thief | ||||||
| Also, about the "50s Rock" comment: I've noticed that every single song in Doom uses some variant of the twelve-bar blues chord progression. | ||||||
| 5 | ||||||
| I always thought that song sounded more like Slayer's Crooked Cross. | ||||||
| nice, metal ftw | ||||||
| Yes, Doom's music rips off a lot of real bands. | ||||||
| omg dude OMG!!!!! DUDE THANK YOU! I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO REALIZED THIS!! | ||||||
| I knew the distinct similiarity between Master of Puppets and Doom but I had no idea of the OBVIOUS similiary between doom and pantera! this ytmnd is gold! | ||||||
| Flawless. ^_^ | ||||||
| Uncanny | ||||||
| master of puppets not so much, but pantera is like dead on. | ||||||
| i jsut cant believe ppl playing the game back when it was new didn't jump all over this sh*t. alot of them were metal heads. | ||||||
| PPS: i was born in 1984 and i played doom when it was new. hadn't quite gotten into pantera yet tho. too bad coulda seen some good shows when i was 9. | ||||||
| "As far as I know, Sonic Mayhem only did hte sound tracks for Quakes 2 and 3" sonic mayhem are pretty much ID softwares private band. they did doom 3 soundtrack. theres also this band artist thing called sonic clang which did a cover of all of the doom 1 songs. | ||||||
| E1M1 of DooM 1 is metallica "No Remorse" you dumb tard, not master of pupets. @ shredzilla, google for converters. Finally, it ISNT copying. The music is very similar, yes, but not EXACTLY the same. Big diffrence to the music companies, and its not considered copying.
-since 1993 | ||||||
| This YTMND has been done before. | ||||||
| not good enough for the kandi man. MEGAWOOT@22@@@@22 | ||||||
| Doom is Doom Metal. ha! | ||||||
| lol nedmetal ftw! | ||||||
| WIN! | ||||||
| There should be a DooM3 mod that has all these original tracks,along with levels identical to the original DooM. That would be f*cking awsome.
| ||||||
| http://cdoom.d3files.com/ here you go friend | ||||||
| E1M1 = No Remorse | ||||||
