I'm ready to accept death when it comes, and I'm willing to pay any consequences as well. I believe that I'm doing my part to help others because it makes me feel better in return by doing so. I can't accept beliefs solely on faith. I would be lying to myself and everyone else, even if I were to act like I believed when I clearly don't. I don't think true belief is something that can be taught, it's probably something predisposed or gained through a personal experience.
Anyway, I found the stories to be touching and I agree with the morality and underlying intentions behind spreading good through religion. I'm happy to support others if they have good hearts, but I do so only for humankind and not for a greater power. I don't see anything wrong with agnosticism, people are just being honest to themselves by admitting they don't understand everything.
I 3'd this ytmnd, because I felt like that is what it deserved. It lost points with me because unlike the last one where I liked the presentation more than the content (truthfully) and it seemed like if one is not a follower of God you will burn in Hell. What does God say or do to the Buddhist monks that have sworn an oath of pacifism or the person that may not be perfect, but they hold the door open for people and such? My biggest gripe with religion is how people have carried out their doctrine.
Jim Jones, Al-Qaeda Moonies, Mormons, and other sects have one thing in common: They all use religion for their own interests and use terror methods or shady origins and ways to get their points across. Religion is not for everyone, I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and belief, and I think that we are our own gods and we sculpt our own world. You don't have to follow a centuries old book, scroll, or set of rules to know that killing, being too self-absorbed and even saying thank you
are good things to keep in mind. I bet you that if Allah, Jehovah, God, Buddha and all the other divinities were to look down at some of the ways their words have been carried out, they would be just shocked, as most, if not all of these divinities would've assumed that the common man has common sense and not crash planes into buildings, or stone people to death or whatever else people have done wrong.
I sometimes wonder if religious people realize that some people can’t believe certain things based solely on faith. Whet, do you realize that a lot of us can’t believe a lot of this stuff because we are incapable of belief and not because it would stop us from living life the way we want. I would love to be Christian! It would give me easy answers to all of my questions and a moral compass for which to live my life.
nroth, it is hard. I don't believe in God solely on faith. I think it makes more sense that there should be a God than not, and I believe that the Christian Bible explains that better to me than the Qur'an, the Torah, or any other number of religions. I do not believe in polytheism either. Christians are not polytheists, we believe in the Son, the Father, and the Holy Spirit, but they are all extensions of one God as much as you're arms legs and head are all a part of you.
However, you still need faith to make that leap from being agnostic to a theist. That is why most people who are actively agnostic (can't answer the god question but care about it) can't commit to the idea of god. For someone who might have been taught at birth to be religious it might be hard to understand why agnostics can’t make, what seems like to the theist, to be the small leap of faith.

But I don't get slide 9 you say she didn't know much about Jesus because she was Roman Catholic? I grew up Roman Catholic but really I just consider myself a christian, I don't differentiate between the different sects. But I can say that we pretty much learn the same thing as every other Christian religion, we learn about Jesus just as much as the others. The protestant sects are all branched from Catholicism.
Everyone needs to realize it is up to them to get to know God. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. John 4:13 -14 Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
By the way falco @ that link... The people in "hell" have not just "been bad" they have committed unthinkable acts, refused to see them as evil and would do them again. As C.S.Lewis says "The gates of hell are locked from the inside". These are the kind of people that are never sorry they did the crime, they are sorry they got caught. They abuse their free will by taking away others, and they refuse to own up to what they have done and will never see what they have done as evil or selfish.
This is beyond Chicken Soup for the Christian soul. This is more like melted Jolly Rancher plus Pixie Sticks and Kool-Aid for the Christian soul. It's very well done, however, and it utilizes a very expertly composed original musical track. I could not give this less than a four in good conscience. Okay, you seriously need to get at least half a clue about how to debate. Anecdotes are not data. A few stories about some guys who said things when they died are not evidence of a damn thing. If I thought you were worth the effort, it would be a trivial matter to go and find deathbed quotes of non-Christians who said things that were hopeful and cheerful, and quotes from Christian practitioners who said things that were rather distressing and doomsaying under similar circumstances. Get. A. Job.
Nice presentation. That said, I hope you're not saying "oh, god exists because some guys said some stuff when they died..." I am personally an atheist. I am not consumed by crushing depression, I have no desire to kill anyone, and I made peace with the inevitability of death in childhood as everyone does in one way or another. It's nice that you have your magical invisible man in the sky to comfort you, but please don't try pushing him on other people on YTMND. Also, the music was dull and repetitive.

I hardly see the fairness of any of this. The cries of the infidels was in black background, with scary music, and this in white background with church music. Not only that, but these are only a few cases out of every Christian/Infidel who died. Can these examples be said to follow along every Christian/Infidel's death? It's like taking a select amount of college kids who go to become immensely successful and showing that all college kids will become wealthy (not a perfect example, but it will do).

I agree, I normally don't have a problem with atheists but jeeze you guys sure are making a terrible name for yourselves and your level of maturity on ytmnd. I don't see any belivers of God on the atheist sites screaming like children and swearing and downvoting just because they don't agree with the message. This is really quite sad to see this many people react like that.
Oh great, whetstone is one of those REALLY dumb christians who thinks that he/she is just some great thinker of their time, and is some kind of persecuted martyr because they can disagree with all of modern science, and defend their position with propaganda. 3 stars to keep my vote neutral, please stop making religious sites, I'm Roman Catholic and if anybody can listen to a long-whinded rant about God and salvation it's a Roman Catholic (as many of my priests in the past have been rambling drunks), but seriously, somebody is gonna get tired of this religious sh*t raging on forever on a site that's supposed to be for humour, and possibly pull some Boondock Saints sh*t on your ass......... VERITAS..... AEQUITAS....
I've accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I understand your need to encourage and share. But I feel a sense of anti-Catholicism, and I worry it ruins your message. Remember, it is God's place to judge not ours. For what it's worth, I'm a non-denominational Christian. I'm not big on organized religion, but do love the teachings of Jesus and understand the importance of Christian fellowship.
And regarding the question from someone else if someone who never knew God .. or a peaceful Buddhist Monk goes to hell -- the bible actually says no one goes to heaven until the judgement .. and during the judgement every knee will bow. Some believe that to mean, that everyone will have the opportunity to accept God after seeing God for theirself. It would still be the person's decision. Those who don't accept are left to their own devices, which will innevitably be overtaken by human evils (hell).
